Seriously? I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you keep missing the point. ggphat gets it. Let's try once more.

A lower end restaurant will not care for food the same as a high end one.
You are obviously missing the point cooking spoiled meat well done does not make the meat less spoiled

honestly if i went to a steakhouse that asked me if I wanted pink or no pink, and I did not have the option of leaving, I guess I would order the steak well done because it's likely they are serving spoiled meat.

If I am going out to a restaurant that I am worried about the quality of meat to the point that (for whatever stupid reason) I feel the need the steak has to be cooked well done...I'm gonna just order bread and maybe some mozzarella sticks

seriously, who goes into a restaurant with concerns about the safety of the meat and orders the steak anyways, because hey, it's inexpensive and might only get you a little sick? Just get the CHICKEN

Seriously who would really want to order a steak from an Applebees or Fridays?

75-80% of what is "cooked" there is done in a microwave, the rest are done by kids or mexican's with limited to no cooking experience. So even if you wanted a steak cooked medium or medium rare...guaranteed it is coming out well done. no matter the quality of meat.

Who still goes to an Applebee’s?
I get students going there or recent grads trying to save a buck...but there comes a point where the thought of Applebees no longer becomes appetizing.

Pretty sure applebees or Fridays steaks are safe though - I think they are vacuum sealed in bags with marinade, probably prepped in a water bath and seared to order.

You could probably find a better meal at any tavern or VFW than an Applebee’s.

Of those chain restaurants, Applebee’s is by far the worst.

100% they are safe and safe to eat when rare or medium rare...but they are also maybe a 1/4" thick and will almost always be overcooked. I guess the idea of basing the doneness of the steak on the restaurant is stupid...but I also found his comment of asking permission from the other guests at the table if he can get a blue rare steak as ridiculous

My guess....

....if they are still even a thing.

That place just might have been the worst dining experience of my life and I have eaten meals at a "Men's Shelter".

Was the "asking permission" the ridiculous part? Or the implication that there would be other people at the table with him?

I guess the people at the table with him is more unrealistic than ridiculous.
