Hub hit the nail on the head so obviously it hit the nerve among many here. Watson is a cry baby .... he signed the contract and he knew fully well when he did that that it would impact the salary cap and the ability of a team to sign other players.... the Texans got him a LT by giving up the farm (in draft picks) and then had to sign that LT to a monster contract.... they got him Cooks and Cobb and David Johnson to add to Fuller so he has a star cast around him .... of course he put up gaudy numbers because their D is the worst in the league so they have to throw all the time to stay in any game.... looks pretty but you aint winning any Super bowls like that.... in the playoffs you need a D because all other teams do .... playing arena league football does not work in the playoffs....as you saw in the Tampa-GB game the refs will let you play physical man to man coverage in the playoffs

In no real world do employees get to choose the CEO of the company .... so Watson ain't gonna get to pick his GM and coach.... the fact is Watson knows he is never winning any Superbowls in the AFC.... here are the young QBs in the AFC who are going to be playing for the next 10 years - Mahomes, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Herbert, Insert Jets QB who they will draft this year

Every single one of those AFC QBs I listed above are as good or better than him and he knows it .... the NFC OTOH has all their great QBs retiring or soon to be - Brady, Brees, Rodgers ....

This also overlooks the fact they-had- a LT, refused to pay him, and just royally screwed up that entire situation. Then, they had to massively overpay to get a new LT.

Again, the organization is a mess. From that standpoint, I do agree that Watson knew or should have known what he was getting when he signed the extension. My assumption is that he and his agent think it is getting even worse, so now they want out.

Man you must be a multi billionaire supporting the owners...

THEY LIED TO HIM
Not a billionaire...yet.
And he wasn't lied to, he just didn't like the answer. So he is quit the team. Not saying I wouldn't want him on the Bears, but those are the facts.

Also, DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans might be a bigger mess than the Bears. They go draft Watson, then they trade his best protector, and his best weapon. And that Hopkins trade was a joke. One of the worst trades I've seen imo.

Perennial loser teams go get their franchise QB, and then think, "We got the QB, now we don't have to surround him with weapons." That's just idiotic.

Man you must be on the good shit bro..... Mahomes yes everyone else on that list hasnt proved nada in the AFC ........

When employee get paid million guess what happens they have the power to make changes you moron.

Herbert had the best rookie season ever bruh .... watch him play you will get my point .... Allen was a superstar that actually played in the AFCCG unlike Watson who led his team to 4-12 and got destroyed by Trubisky ....

And no moron, just because he is the QB he does not get to select the GM and head coach .... the Texans will let him rot on the bench all year and take his $ back .... cry all he wants he created the problem with his huge contract .... that's how the NFL works with salary cap space .... and he has won squat in this league ....or I hope the Texans trade him to the Jets who won't be competitive for another 2 years at least not to mention he ain't beating Mahomes/Lamar Jackson/Burrow/Herbert/Trevor Lawrence etc in the playoffs anyways

Which is exactly what will happen in Chicago bringing in a QB with a huge contract and not having any draft picks for years to do anything.

Actually Texans have done well up to this year. But yes Watson wanting to jump ship at the first sign of trouble doesn't speak much for his character.

Define well? Bears made playoffs 2/3 years .... Texans made playoffs 2/3 years.... yeah they won one playoff game but got stomped by the Chiefs despite having a lead .... they had studs on the DL with Watt and Clowney and studs like Hopkins on O.....

I'm not sure why people harp so much on the Texans record like it's Watson's fault. They probably wouldn't have won a game if they had Trubisky under center. Lol.

Judging a QB's W/L record isn't a great indicator of how good the QB is. Trubisky is 29-21 as a starter, Watson's is 28-25. Does that mean Trubisky is better? The dude threw for 4,800 yards 33 TD 7 INT, 70% completion, 112 rating. And people are going, "He won 4 games lol he's bad" Are you crazy?

2018 they won 11 games, 1st place
2019 they won 10 games, 1st place
2020 4 wins

So if you define well by championships or playoffs, Butkus and Sayers do not belong in the hall of fame cause they never even got their teams to the playoffs.

I don't doubt it. But if Watson is our guy for 10+ years, it's worth it. It'll be slow going for a few years, and it might be painful.

But if we go get Watson, and then rebuild the defense and ignore the O because we have our QB, we'll never do shit even with Watson.

The MOST important question is where does Watson want to go? With a no trade clause, it comes down to the team that’s willing to give up a lot and being a team Watson wants to play for.

Ok I'll bite. Why does that question matter?

Because people are afraid that we'll sell the farm for Watson, he'll get here, realize we're just as much of a trainwreck as the Texans, and cry his way out of Chicago, too.

Watson doesn't strike as the type to jump ship twice after choosing his designation in the first place.

Are you saying rebuild the D because we'd have to give up starters to get Watson?

If the QB doesn't affect the W-L record, why trade for him?

I have no interest in seeing a 4000-4500 yard passer win 4 games.

My interest in Watson would be solely due to my expectation he'd add wins.
