Hub hit the nail on the head so obviously it hit the nerve among many here. Watson is a cry baby .... he signed the contract and he knew fully well when he did that that it would impact the salary cap and the ability of a team to sign other players.... the Texans got him a LT by giving up the farm (in draft picks) and then had to sign that LT to a monster contract.... they got him Cooks and Cobb and David Johnson to add to Fuller so he has a star cast around him .... of course he put up gaudy numbers because their D is the worst in the league so they have to throw all the time to stay in any game.... looks pretty but you aint winning any Super bowls like that.... in the playoffs you need a D because all other teams do .... playing arena league football does not work in the playoffs....as you saw in the Tampa-GB game the refs will let you play physical man to man coverage in the playoffs
In no real world do employees get to choose the CEO of the company .... so Watson ain't gonna get to pick his GM and coach.... the fact is Watson knows he is never winning any Superbowls in the AFC.... here are the young QBs in the AFC who are going to be playing for the next 10 years - Mahomes, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Herbert, Insert Jets QB who they will draft this year
Every single one of those AFC QBs I listed above are as good or better than him and he knows it .... the NFC OTOH has all their great QBs retiring or soon to be - Brady, Brees, Rodgers ....
This also overlooks the fact they-had- a LT, refused to pay him, and just royally screwed up that entire situation. Then, they had to massively overpay to get a new LT.
Again, the organization is a mess. From that standpoint, I do agree that Watson knew or should have known what he was getting when he signed the extension. My assumption is that he and his agent think it is getting even worse, so now they want out.
