I don't care about playing favorites between Jim Hendry and Epstein/Hoyer. I don't care enough to talk politics. I don't care about how the Ricketts family operates their budget, or any other soap opera.
I'm just here to support my team the best I can.
When the Cubs handed out $50 million+ to Edwin Jackson after whiffing on Anibal Sanchez, fans complained. And now when the Cubs are holding tight on spending on free agents, fans still complain. Personally, I'm thrilled that we have a management team that won't give in to such a needy fan base. While I am a little disappointed that the Cubs have done nothing to shore up their infield (I'd hate to suffer through another season of Barney/Valbuena), but I also understand that it's a process. Let the baseball people do their thing. After thinking it through, I like the Wesley Wright signing. We needed another lefty to help out James Russell, or perhaps to build up Russell's trade value. While I like Zac Rosscup's raw arsenal, he issues too many walks at this point.
And the Cubs did not sign Edwin Jackson to such a big contract only to move him a year or two later. Get used to him. Players tend to struggle in their first year after signing a big contract (see Beltran, Pujols). Not only that, he's had to adjust to Wrigley moving from a pitcher's park in Washington, and I think he will. He's pitched effectively at the Cell and I expect a nice bounce back year form him.
