I predict Snell will be the breakout player for the Bulls this year!

But you're also not entirely right...yet. I hope you are right though. He's played great the past couple weeks.

ha he said he wasn't wrong, ill go along with that. on this board youre never right, we all have to accept that....so the next best thing is to just "not be wrong" :smug2:

Snell last year:

4.5 PPG 1.6 RPG .9 APG

Snell this year:

4.8 PPG 1.9 RPG .6 APG

LOL.

Pump the brakes. The guy has had a nice 10 game stretch or so.

I would say he's wrong. There's zero way that Jimmy Butler isn't the breakout player for the Bulls this year.

Breakout player of the NBA I'd say. No one saw that one coming.

Snell has stepped his game up and is playing with confidence. I don't think he is the second coming of Allan Houston (or maybe he is...who knows?), but I do think this recent streak shows that he most likely won't be a bust. We should reserve breakout player talk for now though.

The difference is Butler already earned Thibs trust. Butler got all the minutes in the world to succeed. I could tell Snell put in work and is on a similar trajectory.

Snell is looking a lot like how Jimmy progressed under Thibs. Didn't do much his first season. Second season Butler made big strides, but the sample size was quite small, but he looked like a different player. You can tell Snell has put in the work just like Jimmy did. Now it's a matter of continuing to translate that into live games.

Snell has a swagger to him. He isn't constantly deferring any longer. I never thought he played bad, just thought he was thinking too much and not playing. What he's doing is no surprise to me.

Yeah hopefully Snell is able to keep playing confidently for the rest of the year. He'd be a huge plus for our bench if he can constantly be aggressive on both ends. Also, hopefully this means that McDermott will be making similar strides in the future. Perhaps not this year, but maybe next year we can see him take a similar jump in confidence and production.

Snell had his first two quality games as a Bull. Good on him, but don't get carried with hubris over a few games. Lets look for consistency with his shooting. With that said, his defense has been solid so far this year.

It's nice seeing Snell's all around game develop. It was well-documented that he had the chops to be a solid defensive player who can guard three positions but just like Butler, the evidence of being a consistent shooter wasn't there. Giving him more time won't hurt this team, much like with McDermott -- let the young guys play.

I'll give you that he's the breakout player of the week.

What I think some people might have to accept is, there might be a different bench player every week or so who gets hot. It was Mirotic for a while, there was a hue and cry for him to get minutes at the 3. Now it's Snell, once healthy I'm sure McDermott will have a hot streak and Brooks will have big games. The thing is so many front runners ignore the troubles they had when Dunleavy was hurt and those bench players had to fill larger roles.

I think the offense misses Dunleavy because even when he isn't getting open for a shot he keeps moving and better understands where the other four players are in the play. On defense he helps from the weak side better than Snell or Mirotic and he sees the plays develop quicker so the rotation is better . Hinrich sitting out exposes other things. Because the Bulls play as a team so much less flashy veterans fill some slots better even though guys like Brooks, Mirotic and Snell can roll up stats in larger numbers.

You're right, but Snell's game against Bron the other night was pretty god damned impressive.

Whether or not Snell will get consistent minutes is yet to be seen, but his defensive effort against Lebron was comparable to what Lu and Jimmy have been able to do against LBJ.

Snell is coming on similar to when Jimmy did during his development with the Bulls and its a lot to be excited about.

Sorry Bulls fans. Thibs is going to sink the ship with Hinrich.
