If the oline can be average, I agree. Everything(minus oline) is setup for him to have a huge year.

Put up or shut up time.

Put up or shut up what?

Cutler made chicken crap look decent. He did improve the smurfs to look average even that lazy Roy Williams looked decent with Cutler until Knox got Cutler with his lazy route running.

Cutler has all the weapons but the Left side of the line is total crap, Caraimi is still slow with the injury, and the TEs are still not any good.

Rb, and WR's are top shelf though.

Uh...Tom Brady...Drew Brees...Rodgers...there are more.
Rodgers and Brady were good from the get go. In his first year as a starter Rodgers rating was over 90 and in all 3 of his following years over 100. Brady won the starter position cause he did so good right away and, in fact, won the Super Bowl in his first year as starter. Brees went to the Pro Bowl in his 3rd year as starter and was top 3 in the NFL Passer ratings that year.

Joe Montana never threw 4000 yards in a season, john Elway never put up more than 27 tds in a season, Brett Favre's TD:int ratio is a pedestrian 1.5!!!

But what did they do?

Win games.

His last 30 games, he's 21-9. That's what I hope continues.

Exactly my point.

All of their passer ratings improved...the article you cited even said so in Brady's case

It's a horribly written article whether you like or dislike Cutler

Eli Manning didn't start putting up any big passing numbers until he was 29. Before that, he was statistically very mediocre. The past 3 years, and more specifically last year, are what have him in the elite QBs category. If we are talking numbers, Cutler has put up way better numbers up to the same point in their careers. Like another poster said, Cutler needed to learn how to win. He has done that over the last two years. It' a matter of putting some talent around him and letting him do his thing. He is ready to break out and just about everyone is seeing it coming. Similar to how Forte was primed for a huge year last year. It's his time.

Hey, man. Don't talk to Spartan like that. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to QBs...

You're right...he did think Hanie would make Bears fans forget about Cutler

Cutler has won, He lead the Bears to the playoffs until injury and the same thing happen again when Cutler lead the team to a 7-3 record.

The Bears are cutting Cutler's career short by not protecting him!!!!!!!!

Point is they showed they had it within the first 4 years. Yeah, Brady went sick with Moss and then his TE dynamic duo and Rodgers was unbelievable last year, but they both showed they were top QBs long before that.

I never said that. I said their defense and special teams could carry them with even a below average performance from the QB spot but they got a horrible QB performance and very bad coaching to boot.

I think it was more like the infamous statement: "Cutler's importance to the offense likely overstated."
There were only 2 points I was trying to make with that statement. #1 was that the Bears had a good team that could pick up the slack and #2 that I could piss off the entire CBMB.

In the end, not enough like it anyway.

The defense can't carry this team to any sort of success. It hasn't since 2006 actually. Much like last year...if Cutler stays healthy and plays well...the team will do well. Much like 2010.
