I don't think Lester would be used for a relief spot.
Szczur's the freaking MVP.On Wednesday, Anthony Rizzo borrowed Matt Szczur's bat, and had three hits, including a home run. Apparently, Szczur also lent Russell his leggings on Wednesday and again on Thursday.
"[Ben Zobrist] was like, 'Hey, [Matt], what have you got for me?" Szczur said.
Why would he not pitch when other aces have in that exact same situation? Not only is he their ace, but the Dodgers struggle against lefties.
Lester isn't pitching game 7 because the Cubs are going to win in 6.
If Lester pitches in Game 7 it would be to try and give the Cubs 3 innings or so. Last night was a really taxing/grinding game. Smoltz was even mentioning it. Doubt you could get many innings from Lester in a Game 7 scenario.
Damn straight. These guys want it and will go get it.
Q: Why do the Cubs have highly capable relievers on their roster?Like say we are up by a small margin and Jake is struggling in the 5th and the Dodgers are gaining momentum. I mike go Lester to A) kill their momentum and B) bridge the game to Chapman.
Q: Why do the Cubs have highly capable relievers on their roster?
A: So Lester doesn't have to pitch in relief in game 7.
Wood.Which lefty do you trust more in game 7, Monty or Lester?
I have that feeling as well. I think Kershaw will pitch well but there will be one inning we get to him for a 3 spot. My prediction is the 5th.
Which lefty do you trust more in game 7, Monty or Lester?
It's irrelevant who anyone here trusts. There's only one guy who's trust needs to be earned.
Hadn't you heard? Joe is not to be trusted, Theo is turning over the decision makings to the fans.
As long as they provide you with plenty of TP to wipe ass, I'm sure you will do fine.Just got a text from Jed this morning. I am getting fitted for my uniform this afternoon. Will be replacing Chris Bosio tomorrow at Wrigley.
