It was bound to happen. The Cubs can't keep going inning after inning scoreless.

If they don't finish out this series we'll be talking about this game for a long time.... They had their chances. Great game. Sucks being on the wrong end of it.

Rizzo probably needs the day of or moved down in the lineup for a day. He has look awful. No concept of the strike zone when he usually does.

I love Maddon as a manager, but I don't think this was one of his better games. Wood should have stayed in the game instead of bringing in Rondon and also Chapman, especially considering that Chap doesn't have good numbers in SF, as I understand it. Too much by the book stuff with pinch hitter Ross. Should have kept Coghlan in. That keeps Montgomery with the same catcher. Mike was dealing. Why make him work with a different catcher?

Can't expect a sweep all the time.

That said, Maddon cocked this one up. Not to mention the big splash closer has been very bad.

But most egregious is Rizzo. An 0 fer so far and looks absolutely lost. A game or two is understandable but this is two straight post seasons. What's the number, 4 for like 46?

Too early to say choke artist? The numbers are what they are

Lol at some Cubs fans thinking SF is beating us. Have you not seen this team? It may go 5 - but we're moving on.

And it wouldn't surprise me if we took them out tonight. Lackey is a gamer and he'll be ready. And if not and we play game 5 in Wrigley - we will destroy Cueto.

Book it.

I had a hard time staying awake last night but in between dozing off I did make it to the end. Did Maddon make some mistakes? Yes, I don't think you bring in Chapman with 2 runners on base. Obviously that double switch also allowed the play in right field that Almora almost made but Heyward probably would have. I get it. That said this is hardly over. SF has been here before and was an unlikely sweep candidate. Those guys are going to battle to the end. So tonight it's Lackey, who was quite literally signed for this game, vs Matt Moore who is incredibly inconsistent and is the type of pitcher who if the hitters are patient will put guys on base. It's a winnable game in their house but it's going to take all we have. I don't want game 5.

I fell asleep for the chapman deal and missed the Bryant home run. Joe got everyone in, so its going to be important for LAckey to go deep.

Too many moves by Joe, after Edwards he would have had to go to Lackey last night. What is wrong with day baseball?

Another lefty tonight, I expect the same infield at least, probably same lineup other than catcher. I really dont know who works best with Lackey. It might be Ross.

They will win tonight. Cubs tear up MOR lefties. I'm expecting a drilling.

Wouldn't mind Bryant at 1B and Baez at 3B. Soler in LF and Almora in RF. Stack the line up R.

Cubs let a golden opportunity slip through their fingers last night/this morning. Thankfully, they still have two more chances to win this series. 3-0 leads must be held, though.

I want to be positive about this team moving on, but I just can't. The Cubs are on the wrong end of history and the Giants are on the right end. Yeah, I know... different teams. But, I am not going to get my hopes up.

We are winning the series, period. SF will not win a war of attrition against us. We're too complete of a team. SF is highly flawed.

I can't say for sure we'll win tonight - but if we don't, we're taking game 5 in Wrigley. But do not count out Lackey. He's a tough, tough competitor.

On my way to Ohare to fly to...SF.

Might see if i can scalp a single ticket while I'm there...

Might get to see Rizzo's first playoff hit. :)

Again, can't expect a sweep against a team with a staff like SF. That said, the Cubs had exactly what they wanted - a pitcher giving them a 3 run lead. One of the most dominant pitchers in playoff history struggling with the pen up in the 2nd. Couldn't do any more. The Rizzo at bat with 2 on after the homer was big. The Baez at bat with first and third and one out (caught looking) was pivotal. Put the ball in play and 4 run lead. Instead, Montero up with two outs.

Most damning stat? Until the Bryant home run, the Cubs were hitless in something like 26 at bats. Mostly against an average pen. Not good.
