Please let me know if todays game is a sign of the whole fucking season to come. So I don't have to waste my time.

Thanks,

As far as the game goes, I liked what I saw overall. I think Barney is the ugliest player ever, mostly because he has the same look as Theriot. If Dempster was on his game, we would have won. I think that we will have a decent season and have a lot to build on. I was really expecting Ramirez to have a bigger game, but I think that will come with time. It sure as hell better. I am realllllllly in love with Pena. He is probably going to be my player crush this season. I think that he will have a very nice season this year with the team. But I think that this loss completely falls on Dempster and part of that may be on Quade. He should have pulled Dempster earlier. He just didn't have his stuff today. With our bullpen being a "strength"(whether it is or isn't remains to be seen) and it being the start of the season, I just don't see why they left him in. I'm also not a fan of everyone being all over Byrd's tail? He just isn't as good as everyone makes him sound. I really hope the Cubs realize that sooner rather than later.

Barney played good though (except for the CS, but either stole or advanced on a wild pitch later), but ya, he does look a little odd.

Ramirez actually did decent, and almost tied the game in the 8th (or was it then 7th?).

Nobody think's Byrd is a superstar, but he is a good player who puts in max effort.

1) I almost became president of the united states, there is no "almost" you either did or didnt.

2) Byrd is a serviceable player, that had a great year last year with a good attitude. But he isnt the player that everyone thinks he should be. he is what he is.

How did Barney play good? One of his hits was a pop up that the catcher just misplayed and the other was a little weak blooper. That's hardly playing good at all.

He *almost* tied the game. But he didn't. Ramirez had two hits, both singles. One was very weakly hit, IIRC. He really didn't have that good of a game. Stop kidding yourself.

Great, he is a good player who puts in max effort. I agree, he is good, but he shouldn't be hitting 3rd. At all. He isn't one of the 5 best hitters in the line up. Therefore, he shouldn't be in the top 5.

1) Ya IK, he had 2 hits though, and swung the bat well.

2) Ya, but I don't think anybody thinks Byrd is a Carl Crawford or anything, he's a good player, and that's all I hear from anyone.

1) It wasn't really a bloop, it was a soft liner.

2) I explained in above post.

3) OK, fine.

I'll be back tomorrow to talk Game 2. That's what matters now. Let's get the first W!

Byrd didn't even have a great year. He had the same year he had the last 3 with the bat. His glove was better, but with his bat he was actually worse than all 3 years in Texas.

Great, I swing a bat "well" too. Guess that means that I should get a job too. I don't care if he had 4 hits, they were pretty weak(one was well hit, as I recall).

You obviously didn't hear what Len and Bob had to say about him and the Cubs' view on him. Probably too busy posting. He IS a good player. But why in the hell is he batting 3rd??

It was a bloop on a very defensive swing. He got lucky. Plain and simple.

You don't get the difference between a true hit and a lucky hit, do you?

A bloop is more of a pop-up type hit, he hit a soft liner, it didn't have to high arc.

Oh yeah, because what it is called matters SOOOOOOO much.

The point is it shouldn't have been a hit.

It should have, it was a defensive swing but he still made contact and landed it in the outfield to reach.

Really doesn't matter though, I just want to see people getting on base, no matter how ugly it looks. Actually, I just want a win.

Castro looked good, even if two were infield hits.

I would much rather have him hit the ball with force. Defensive swings that result in hits don't make the player good. That means they got lucky. Look at a good hitter like Ramirez, he takes forceful swings even with 2 strikes.

It really does matter, because just because he does it today, doesn't mean that it will happen tomorrow. You really don't understand that Barney isn't a good hitter, do you? If you want a win, you shouldn't want Barney on the team, because he sucks.

Castro looked alright. His first hit was nice. That third one was nothing but luck. He stills makes some boneheaded decisions like throwing that ball on that grounder deep in the 5 1/2 hole.

Nothing bad came of the attempt, Pena can handle it.

DeWitt isn't good either, he sucks. But you want him on the team.
