Nothing bad came of the attempt, Pena can handle it.

DeWitt isn't good either, he sucks. But you want him on the team.

What does Pena have to do with this?

DeWitt sucks, I know. He is still better than Barney.

We can afford some aggression like that throw as long as Pena can stop it at the other end.

Ya, it was unnecessary, but I'd rather him always try than never try.

dewitt>barney but only on the fact that we have no clue how barney will turn out, you know what you have in dewitt and barney has to be better than that and time will tell.

i say let barney play, it isnt like the cubs are going for it this specific year so let him play and see what you have.

Oh yeah, because what it is called matters SOOOOOOO much.

The point is it shouldn't have been a hit.

in jtng's defense here (lolwut?) you're the one kind of making a big deal over what it's called, and saying that the point is, it shouldn't have been a hit...

but the point is, it was a hit. idc how he gets on, as long as he gets on...Hell, if he would've hit a shot that was robbed of a homer, it SHOULD'VE been a home run, but I'd rather him lean in and take one off the elbow and walk to first base, given the two options.

You gotta work with what happened.

Maybe instead of debating the #8 hitter in the line-up, we should be more concerned w/ our new manager leaving a pitcher in who had just given up a grand slam in one more inning, even tho he was already over 100 pitches...on opening day....or the fact that Soto and Soriano combined to go 0-7. Or the fact that we left 23 freaking guys on base on opening day. 23 guys left on base. lmmfao. freaking pathetic.

Damn, I didn't know it was that high!

We just couldn't get it done.

What I question more though, is, after going 0-4, why is Soto hitting ahead of Pena today?

We didn't leave 23 men on base x factor is reading that wrong.

If you include every ab that left people on we did that.

OK, that makes more sense. I was beginning to think we left 2 or 3 on every inning and couldn't remember more than 1 bases loaded situation.

Wow, less than 2 hours till Game Time.

Better win today, because I want to see us at .500, just to be .500, and I bet on today's MLB winners and had the Cubs winning.

With those stats they just mentioned, we better win.

Maholm's ERA with runners in scoring position is over 14, and with runners on second and third of 29. Not sure if that was last year, career, etc. though, but we have to get runners on and get good pitches. If the Cubs do that, we should be hearing Go Cubs Go for the first time this season.

And... we're losing... in the 1st.

EDIT: Nice, ground ball right to Pena to end the inning.

Baker, Castro, and Byrd coming up with the Cubs trailing 1-0 in the 1st inning.

A 7-pitch 1-2-3 inning for Maholm after Zambrano has a high-pitch 3-base runner inning.

Z with a 1-2-3 2nd inning, helps off-set Maholm's 1-2-3 in the 1st inning a little bit. Now the middle of the order has to set the stage for themselves.

Another 7-pitch 1-2-3 inning for Maholm. :obama:

Luck is not on our side so far. The Cubs have gotten a couple nice line drives right at people..and the Pirates just got that lucky bounce off Z's glove.
