Why would have it done no good? He's more of a basestealing threat than Pena. (Not by much), but still the fact that he and Ramirez dog everything all the time has to be stopped or else send them the way of Carlos Silva.

Because he can't go to first. Once he missed the ball with his bat he was out. Whether the ball got lost forever and Pena ran around the bases four times, or if the ball disintegrated into mid air he was out.
End of story.
