Great double play to end the inning.

Now let's get a base runner.

Baker grounds out, and we're still down 2-0 after 3 innings.

At least we got a hit, Z's double. Now Maholm doesn't have a Perfection or No-No going.

Nice 1-2-3 inning for Z. Castro, Byrd, and Ramirez coming up as we trail Pittsburgh 2-0.

Need Castro to get on to set the tables for the middle of the order.

Right back to the pitcher for a double play to end the inning, with another 7-pitcher, 3-batter inning for Maholm.

Something is wrong if all but one of Maholm's innings have been 7-pitch, 3-batter innings.

Z works around Maholm's lead off single... now when will the offense do something?

I've got a feeling this is going to be the major problem with the team this year, we just don't have any guys that can get clutch hits anymore. Ramirez just tries to hit for the fences every at bat and he consistently flies out to the warning track. Fonzie's basically a waste of 18 million dollars a year. And it's too early to see what Pena's going to do. But if history has shown us anything, he'll bat .200 and have 10 homeruns or get hurt - you know, because Bradley was a fantastic signing, Nady killed us on the Bucs, comes to the Cubs and sucks, etc. It's really going to be up to Castro, Byrd, and Pena to come up with the runs because no one else has proven that they can. It's going to be a long season.

Z gives up a solo blast.

I swear to God if we get shut out by the Pirates today and then lose tomorrow, I'm going to sell my Cubs-Yankees tickets and get Bulls playoff tickets.

Unbelievable that a former manager is this dumb.

Less than two outs if first base is occupied you are out on a dropped third strike.

End of story.

So what's the new goal for the season?

We lost the first 2 games in 2008 too. We aren't the 2008 Cubs, and this game isn't over yet, but I wouldn't assume that we are going to be THIS bad all season.

Soriano= ZERO hustle. I don't care if he broke a rule while HUSTLING. The fact is that he and Ramirez have ZEROHUSTLE Hopefully Quade benches Soriano like he did with Castro last year.
