I'm scared of the Jays. I don't believe that team is sustainable but as far as this year you have to give them the odds. Too much fire power

Cubs do match up. They have legit DH options. Really depends in the kids putting together complete efforts

It is hard to bet against the Cubs right now. They have exceeded all expectations so this is just another challenge

Tomorrow to me is an absolute crapshoot. Two great pitchers, two very strong teams and frankly two very good managers. I honestly don't think Clint Hurdle gets the respect that he should. I give a light edge to Arrieta and Maddon in those areas, and another slight edge to Pittsburgh on overall team. That all adds up to bupkis though and I think a coin flip would be just as accurate as a pick in the game. You get past that game though and you have solid matchup advantages against the three other teams. That doesn't mean you win but it also doesn't mean you lose and advantages carry greater weight in 5 or 7 game series.

Just caught a glimpse of Jim Hendry in the background of an interview at Yankees Stadium. I may have nightmares tonight.

You know it would be fun seeing an Astros/Cubs WS. It isn't likely to happen.

I hate to be a spoiler here, but please don't discount the Cardinals. They have played their best baseball this time of year when either limping into the playoffs, or flat out being overlooked.

It is when they have been HUGE favorites to win that they have disappointed their fans.

One game at a time, and lets hope that the player that came in to Chicago to pitch flawlessly in October, starts it off on Friday night with a big fat "W".

I don't think anyone is looking past them. You never look past a 100 game win team.

I just don't think anyone is looking at them and thinking 'Oh my God, I don't want to play that team'.

This is a winnable series. I wasn't filled with dread like I was when we played the Dodgers in 2008. That series just felt like we were going to lose. And we did.

This one feels different.

I agree, this Cardinals team isn't the same team of say two months ago.

And now with Wainright back on the team as far as leadership, and possibly Molina rejoining the team, they are still a scary out.

Beating Pittsburgh in a one game playoff is one thing. Stringing wins together or winning in a best of five series against a formidable pitching staff with an excellent relief core is another.

This is where it all gets tough, and the Cubs are going to face a slew of great pitching from here on out.

You want to take at least one in St Louis no matter how, or who does it.

True, but I still think at this point the Cubs are the better team. And that's without losing my bet.

GO CUBBIES!!

Not discounting them at all but right now I think the Cubs are playing better baseball. Of course the way things go in MLB that could change tomorrow. Still I like the Cubs chances in this series.

Cubs are hot, but it's going to be a TOUGH series. I really see it as a coin flip. We're the underdogs, but playing well. Card have the best record in MLB but are injured and have cooled off. Good timing for us, but really, anything could happen. I still say it goes five games. But damn, if we could steal a game Friday, we could close them out here in Chicago which would be, pardon my French, FUCKING SWEET.

David Ross hit just .176/.267/.252 for the Cubs this season, but ESPN’s Wayne Drehs spoke to Ross, his teammates and the coaching staff about the value that Ross brings in the clubhouse and the difference he’s made in dealing with rookies, young stars like Anthony Rizzo and veterans like Jon Lester. Every teammate of Ross spoke glowingly about his emphasis on accountability and his relentless quest to make sure that there’s not a day when anyone on the team is giving any less than 100 percent on the field. Manager Joe Maddon called Ross the best clubhouse presence he’s ever seen, and Rizzo tried to characterize the impact of Ross’ leadership. “It’s one of those things … [Ross] doesn’t demand respect — he earns it,” Rizzo explained. “He lets you know in a nice way, and he’ll get on you in a rough way if he needs to. I tell him all the time I just want to go out and prove to him I can bring it everyday.”

I want Tor out on a short. That team needs to be put out before they get white hot and mow every one down.
