Do NOT lose this game.

Two walks lead to two runs. Cards have done little. Do not let this one be a loss.

Baez is stupid right now and what's more he's doing it vs RHP. Really bullish on him this year having seen what he's doing thus far vs RHP

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
I haven't paid much attention to mechanics this year, but Baez has quieted his loading process. Looks like he's starting a bit slower and not being quite as loose with the bat.

LaStella’s been doing a nice job off the bench, but I would like to have seen Almora there.

Meanwhile...Happ. Ugh. 2017 Schwarber was better. It is early, but damn. He just looks disinterested.

So far this year, except for KB and Baez, we suck ball sacks.

Average should be much higher. His BABIP is .199m his career number is .307. When that normalizes look out. Plus the reduction to a 22% K rate is no accident. He no longer chases that low and outside pitch that he use to swing at and look like he was golfing. Now he takes that pitch every time. It's a subtle change but has had a huge impact.

Why Baez is super encouraging? He is a slow starter. His whole career. He warms up with the weather. Him playing like this in the cold should be exciting for all.

I was just thinking this yesterday after seeing his cold gear on. This is not the same guy.

To be honest, his celing is MVP. Could be scary if he puts it together this year.

obviously if and before the cubs make that kind of deal their going to want a commitment to an extension from him to include Russell or Baez..
I probably should of made that clearer

If it just a rental and a chance to at least have a few month to talk, maybe Happ and a couple pitchers get it going ..Then Maddon has to figure out how to keep both Russell and Baez happy with playing time

If Epstein and Hoyer are seriously considering to make a legit offer on a Machado deal, id love to see that happen sooner rather then later..

If it's an extension, the Cubs have ZERO shot. They have nothing that interest the O's as they want pitching and the Cubs have none to offer.

Compelling 2018 storyline: Is Baez finally taking the next step or just off to a hot start?

He could be. But with this crappy weather I am not going to read into any hitters or pitchers at this point. Just too crappy for pitchers to grip right and add to that the crappiness of the weather for hitters. It's a crap shoot. I know, I said crap a lot, but honestly, winter was nicer relatively speaking than this spring so far.
