The thing I saw last night was that the Preds played the 3rd as if their backs were against a wall. The 'hawks played as if the game didn't matter.

That is how I saw the 3rd period as well.

The Hawks played the early third feeling...comfortable. That shit can't happen again, and I believe it won't. As to the notion that Hoss has lost a step...

One thing that's sorely apparent against Nashville is just how much speed the Blackhawks have lost over the past two years. The stretch pass and odd man rushes that they would relentlessly break other teams down with have been completely absent, and now the shoe is on the other foot. Hossa is still a reliable two-way player but at 36 he is struggling to finish and find the net. Sharp is 33 now and a total nonfactor. Kane is getting smothered every time he touches the puck because he's carrying Versteeg and Richards. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see them get bounced in the next round. Their lack of size and physicality was always an acceptable tradeoff given their offensive firepower, but now they've slowed down and it's exposing those weaknesses.

What LordK said can be an answer:

Y I won't discount any of the Pred's play, since they are looking good, but for a team with "star power" like the 'hawks they need to play more hungry and less like they're believing their own hype.

Hossa maybe lost a step, but he's still fast (not like Seth Jones though v-:), Hammer looks a bit slow, at times Keith (fatigue?) and Kane (conditioning?). Rozsi looks decent physically, his problem is mental, too many passes to opponents in the high slot, too many pucks going under or over his blade.

They show their speed when they play with urgency, but it happens so rarely I can only think of the second period of the first game and the game against the Kings from the end of March. Most of the time they seem to dilly-dally waiting for the Cup to be handed to them

I just think the Hawks wanted to win at home for the fans... either that or make Rocky some money, one of the two.

I think the rook is going to choke away this game.

Forcing Q to go back to Craw.

God I'm hope I'm wrong.

Finally! No stroke face/stroke voice Kenny Albert, and no Dave Strader. We get Doc and national (subdued) Eddie.
