The A's window was a year and a half at the most.. They know they won't sign Lester, and furthermore, it's doubtful that they even entertain signing Shark. It's Billy ball. He has his chances, the window is short, and then he regroups and tries it all over again.
That is why the two top prospects for them are now gone. It doesn't mean he is going to kick himself, it means he did what he had to do at that time. The time was right, and he pounced on it, and people like Sonny Gray are probably soon to follow.
