WE CLEARLY NEED TO IMPROVE OFFENSIVELY, BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE - THE DEFENSE NEEDS TO IMPROVE BIG TIME.

Was just thinking about CF/ leadoff hitter..

Think about now, if Fowler didnt resign during ST in 2016, this would of been 3rd year in row that Epstein didnt fully address CF by bringing in an everyday player for that spot..

2016 it was going to be Heyward and Szczur

2017 it was Jay and Almora then Happ started over Almora

2018 it Happ and Almora and both are struggling early

It wasn't easy at all but Heyward misplayed that ball, let's hope Strop can get out of this mess

We can score early and knock out a bad pitcher with a zillion pitches, and still lose.

We can allow two fucking hits in 7 innings and lose.

This offense needs to have someone who gets on and gets in. 8 guys trying to hit HR's does not a consistent offense make.

Deep fly with man on 3rd less than 2 outs. Novel idea. Cubs should try it.

He made it appear hard. He jogged the majority of the way. The ball didnt take off on him. He just didnt read it well at all and thought he did.

9th inning.

We're down one.

I wonder if anyone will swing for a fucking HR.

And at the end of 162, we will have one of the higher scoring teams in the league. But the wild inconsistency was present all of 2017. It is not 8 games. You can laugh, but nobody who watches this team thinks this issue has only been present for 8 games.

I like that a lot of guys can hit a HR. But the offense needs to not rely solely on HRs.

(I would love a HR from Baez here, but we need a guy not swinging for one right now.)

In eight games, we will have been shutout twice, and scored only on a solo HR twice - one of which was 17 innings.
