It doesn't matter. The game didn't end because he missed that call. The cubs still had the lead. Edwards still had a chance to get out of it and didn't make the pitches he needed to make. Plain and simple. Then cishek comes in and does the same. You can put it on the ump if you want, but the players can't allow it to affect them. The last two innings were completely uncharacteristic of this team.

It doesn't matter because the game didn't end on that call????

The inning WOULD HAVE.

How does that NOT matter?!?

Huh?

With a lefty, you should be closer to 3rd? If he was, it's a base hit.

What? He was off the line for the lefty. He had to run all the way to third. It wasnt he got up touched third then fired. He had to run to third. He lost where he was on the diamond and who was in the box.

BTW, is there a more obvious "I need to make a show" move than an ump "ejecting" a player after they are removed from the game?

I thought you were questioning the fact that he WAS playing off third. I misunderstood what you were saying was the mistake.

I agree his best shot was at home, but I think he may have felt he had no shot there and his only hope was the DP. I would have liked to see the throw home.

Had the shitty home umpire made the call in the 8th, it might not have ever come to this. Strop would've been in there instead of Cis.

I'm away from the TV at this point. Have they shown where R3 was in relationship to home plate when Bryant got the ball? The only thing I can think of besides he forget a LH was hitting and he cab scoot, is that he didn't think he could get the runner out at home. I find that hard to believe, but stranger things have happened.

I'm guessing Bryant thought a slower runner was AB....I mean Yelich runs fairly well and it was still pretty close, a little bit slower runner and it's a 2P. Regardless, you gotta come home when the game winner is on third.

Another reason to love Cole Hamels:

Cole Hamels, not feeling the rivalry after a walk-off loss to the #Brewers: "When you have majority #Cubs fans in the stands, I don’t know if that’s a rivalry yet. I’ve been in rivalries. They’re not going to like me for the comment, but you can look at the ticket sales."

I mean, this is arm chair quarterbacking to the max. But I thought he had plenty of time even if when he got to his feet to go home. I truly think he kind of got lost how far he was away from the bag. Also, maybe he thought he was Baez but Bryant has a long release. Strong arm, but it takes awhile for that length to get going. The Cubs play aggressive. I chalk this up to another instance.

I think you ar eright that he was a little farther from the bag than he initially thought. Seems like he felt he should have gone home.

Just a tough play for a guy that is starting to be bounced around the outfield after so much time off. He was DHing in some of his rehab stuff.

Bottom line, Baez would have gone home, Bote would have gone home, LaStella and happ would have probably missed the grounder all together. It was not a routine play and easy out but maybe Maddon needs to consider this as he is bouncing KB from right, left, third and shifts.

Ok, Cubs. Clean this up.

Brewers scored 4 gift runs Monday and one already tonight.

It's time for the cubs to get their shit together in this series or they are going to let the Brewers back into the race.
