Well @CSF77 think happ can bring back value but that javy has none. Personally I think neither have much value, but javy certainly has more

I believe that Happ and Bote are low cost with control to non contending small market teams. It is not about winning.

So Teperia had a calf strain and hit the DL. Megill suffered from suck and got the boot. Brought a lefty up...xfered Duff to the 60. He won't be back til the 22 of July. Nance back up.

He is overrated and we could have traded him for something. I'm a bit soufr that we gave up so much for Quintana, let him go, and now we have a worse version of him and no farm system to show. He will become good, like everyone else, once he is gone too
He should get demoted to Iowa when Williams returns. But not because he suck.

It would be for a few reasons.

1. Get him in the pitch lab with Marquez. Adbert is codependent on a single pitch. First it is a curve then a slider. They need to get him to trust his stuff and to stop firing the same pitch over and over.

2. Limit his innings.

3. Get the starters exposure pre deadline that you wanted to trade.

If it was my call I would move Adbert to the developmental list and have him work on his lacking. Then demote Thompson. Promote both Maples and Williams. Keep Mills as the #5. Play to tank while building up trade value. This season is toast

At Iowa I would run Steel, Thompson, Abbott at Iowa until Aug. Recall to plug into the rotation. I would expect Davies traded. He has been pretty good over all. Hendricks Jed won't trade. Jake I doubt anyone would buy. Williams if he figures how to not suck he might be decent as a trade chip.

Regardless I would play the get Steel and Thompson ready to start in the 2nd half. At min they replace Davies and Mills.

Almost as if this outcome was predictable…

at least they are fading before the all star break to give Jed and co a clear indicator to sell before the trade deadline

You have to wonder who watches these games or reads the boxscores. The last 14 games the Cubs have scored 35 runs which is 2.5 runs a game while striking out nearly 180 times in those 14 games which is just under 13 per game. 13 K's per fucking game for a 14 games span. Yet.....YET....all we hear is the Cubs need to trade for pitching. This team has the worst AB's I've ever seen on one ML team.

So here's what you can do with any trades for pitching...........

I would rather have a 14-0 blow out. Make even Heyward want to wave his no trade rights for a contract eat and a used bag of balls.

I'm pretty sure with Duffy being pushed to the 60 day it signals a pending fire sale. He wouldn't do that with a sense of urgency to compete.

Lol you've joined the ranks. All I've been trying to say is the quickest way for a turnaround is a fire sale. Next year likely will be a dumpster fire, but 2023 could be back to competing

You know I went to games at Wrigley in the 70s when you could drop a bomb in the stands and there would be no injuries, it was actually easier to root for those bad teams than for this team, that is just playing bad. They have mishandled their talent and the Cubs leadership just doesn't seem to understand baseball. It used to be Cubs were cheap, now they are just stupid...
