Bryant out has been a big issue. Getting Heyward back will also be a boost

Cubs have 389 PA with RISP (tied 2nd most in MLB)

.216 Avg with RISP ( lowest in NL, 4th lowest in MLB)

That the struggle from having 6 main hitters hitting .243 or below in lineup..
Can't count on anyone to get a big hit in those situations.

But they weren't hitting that great as a team when they were heathly either. Rizz, Schwarbie, Baez, Zoe, Russell are all struggling.

It's games like this where the urge to go full meatball is hard to resist.

Eh i mean they are missing like 3 starters(Bryant, Heyward, and Zobrist. It's unfortunate but so was the huge skid before the all star break last year.

They are so "asleep".

Nonchalant play. Defensive miscues. They don't value at bats and make the opposing pitchers throw a lot of pitches.

Just a lot of very blah baseball.

Wainwright has sucked out loud the past two seasons, and we get shut out?! He didn't make it through two innings scoreless most of his starts.

Need a little energy.

(And, oh yeah....Jake kind of sucks now.)

Rizzo being cold is a big part of it. .111 in May. Him getting out of his funk is the biggest impact.

But right now the hottest bats were Bryant and Happ followed by Contreras. You have to build around those 3 right now.

After that you need LaStella in there. At SS you go with Russell's stable glove over Baez.

So seeing how they are using Happ #2 maybe hit Happ, Bryant, Rizzo, Contreras, Heyward 2-6. Leading off I would rather see LaStella at this point over Schwarber. Apt .204. May .132. So wrong direction. Something needs to change here as it is not working.

But at least Happ is looking like he wants to stay. Even covered CF. so at the end of the day they need to keep him up.

And I would consider trading Arrieta at this point. He has become a liability. It is really sad how he fell this hard over a 1 year period.

"If you look at the percentage of strikes to balls and where the location was and repetition of his delivery, he was never in any trouble," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said of Arrieta. "They just hit two homers."

Fkn brilliant

Mills is off the DL and I'm fine seeing what they have if this season continues like this.

You can't trade someone who has no demand...

Change of scenery deals happen all of the time.. Team A needs a arm to soak innings. Not contending and has a bad deal to let go. Team B can absorb that deal and has a need.

Not all trades are prospect pack for....

I for one wouldn't mind a legit vet lead off with maybe 2 years of control for Jake. Cubs get some stability in a area of need. Team B get payroll opened

This team does not need to trade away pitching for position players.
