Cubs' starting lineup tonight includes three catchers, and Schwarber.

My guess on the 25 man

Hitters

Starters (8)
Jay/Almora (platoon)
Bryant
Rizzo
Contreras
Zobrist
Russell
Heyward
Baez

Bench (4)
Schwarber, Happ, LaStella, Jay/Almora

Starters (4)
Hendricks, Q, Lester, Arrieta

Bullpen (6)
Davis, Edwards, Strop, Rondon, Duensing, Montgomery

That's 22 guys who definitely will make it

Guy 23 - Backup C
Avila (do you want a better hitting lefty)
Rivera (better against lefties, better defensively)

Guy 24
Seventh arm in the bullpen - Lackey, Wilson (lot of opportunity to face lefties)

Guy 25
L.Martin (better defense, potential late inning base stealer)
Avila/Rivera loser (far better bat than Martin in certain situations)
Lackey/Wilson - Do you want an eighth pitcher in case something happens to one of your guys? In case a game goes long? Do you want Jake in the pen and Lackey as game 4 starter?

Cards play by play announcer so lame.

Last night discussing how many times in a row Cards made playoffs. Tonight discussing the 2011 champs.

Suggested just now that Cards management may be more motivated since seeing Cubs celebrate on their field. If that is true, you have the wrong guys in management.

Like listening to children call a game.

Seeing the clip of Wainwright yesterday, getting interviewed with his Nike Golf hat on was priceless. They had already given up and could not beat the worst lineup we could have put out there, other than Joe did not let Schwarber catch.

Are we just gonna skip a Cincy thread and go straight to the Nats?

Just where will that be? It certainly won't be here. Do you think Maddon is suddenly gonna change his stripes? Not likely, he loves to mix and match and he will row that boat till his arms fall off. And you know what? It's working....I see no reason for him to stop.

Maddon dont need to change his stripes, though barring injuries i think next year team will have more stability at each position ..

Barring trades or FA signing(CF)

Contreras
Rizzo
Baez / Happ
Russell / Baez
Bryant
Schwarber / Zobrist / Happ
Happ / Almora
Heyward / Zobrist

As i said barring an addition of a CFer, i think these 10 guys will get majority of PT..

( after a very good season, i think Jay will sign with a team that offers him a starting spot or at least a shot at starting) cubs will go with Happ and Almora.

So, Happ being a SH will get plenty of PT starting at 3 positions ( mostly CF). He gonna end up with over 410 PA since coming up in May this year..
He should get well over 500 playing full season with cubs next year.

Happ needs to be the starting LF next year with his 35 HR potential and decent fielding skills. Schwarber needs to be traded to clear up the logjam. If Schwarber had played fulltime this year he woould have been on pace to have the 5th most KOs in the history of baseball
