Dejong looks like the love child of Wainwright and Carpenter.

Rizzo told Edwards if he dont get out of the inning and Maddon brings in Duensing or Wilson, he was gonna kick his ass....lol

They gave credit to Pham on a ball he played off his chest - a play every CF makes. And they mentioned, during that replay, that he earlier made a nice leaping catch on a ball hit by Heyward. Pham came in on that ball, and had to leap to prevent it from going over his head.
Yea, these announcers are rubbing one off for the Cardinals tonight..lol

Should have gotten that run in.

Let's go make it meaningless.

I don't know how good Bote can be over a long haul, but I don't think we could have asked for more while filling in for Bryant.

I like Bote a lot. I would love to see him at SS some before having a final opinion though. But from what we have seen he is better than Happ. Baez and Russell are GG level.

I didn’t get to see the game but from what I read seems that they went to war tonight and that is the mind set they need. First 2 games they didn’t have the killer instinct.

I wouldn't say they had a war like mentality tonight, not even close...

They had 1 crooked number scoring inning that was opened up by an error

Hendricks rebounded well after the first and looked liked his old self

Other then that it was a typical 3 hour game

Killer mentality is to make your opponents pay for their **** ups. Cubs have been doing that all year

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Hopefully that outing frees up Hendricks to go do what he does the rest of the season. He kept hitters off balance. If he can get squared away and Hamels is a bit better in Chicago than he was in Texas, that will go a long way for this team's tun down the stretch.

If Hendricks pitches like that from here on out, Cubs will have the Central locked up with 2 weeks to go.

Hendricks in his last 5 starts:

3.00 ERA, 2.90 FIP, 2.80 xFIP, 1.13 WHIP, 9.3 K/9, 1.2 BB/9

He's going to be just fine.

It's really just his June starts. April-May he was 3.19 ERA, 4.45 FIP, 3.89 xFIP, 1.06 WHIP, 6.9 k/9 and 1.9 bb/9. Obviously you'd prefer to see his k rate a bit higher but not terrible. And then July he's at 3.34 ERA, 2.91 FIP, 3.11 xFIP, 1.20 WHIP, 8.49 k/9 1.29 bb/9. It's just that 5 start period in june that killed him(7.03 ERA).
