Changed channel to football for a minute and missed Watkins' HR.

Good job, kid.

No one is making excuses. It was the right play. Damn if you do, damn if you dont.
I was fine with him going for 3, its the hesitation with looking over his shoulder that cost him.. he needs to pick up his coach if he doesn't know where ball is.

No offense, but I think we need to stop making excuses for Castro. It was a lousy play on his part, imo. He needs to make his decision before reaching 2nd base, and then put his head down, and get to 3rd base. He doesn't need to be looking backwards at the throw.
What Castro did that you think is so horrible is a basic of baseball.

Cubs have 6 HRs in the series already. (With their leading hitter on the bench)

5 by four different rookies.

In Game 1, with a poor pitcher on the mound, Renteria decides to sit Soler. Rizzo out still. Watkins, Valaika and Baker in the lineup.

Wants to be sure we let Cards win the first game today.
Why when we have bangers like Watkins and Valaika in lineup.

Hitting is contagious...

14 game team HR streak

Rounding 2nd, and deciding to go for third is OK. Looking back to see the ball once the decision is made is not basic baseball. It's a little league mistake.

Anyone still interested in going after Masterson this offseason...?

I'd be down if he's not our biggest pickup and we're just hoping that Bosio can work some magic...

Looking back at the throw is never the right play, period. He should have been running hard and looking at his 3rd base coach, who's job is to tell him to slide, and to what side.

What kind of question is this? I don't understand why some posters are so confrontational on this forum. Of course I'll be happy with whatever the Cubs do to improve the team, and at this point, I wouldn't count out any possibilities.
Let us know what 2 TOR are available. Who are they going to sign? Lester and who?

Didn't expect HR's from Watkins and Valaika. I'll take it.

I would like to see somebody on when we go long, but so far, so good.

Exactly, wait until all the prospects are up. I wonder how long it will be until we see a back to back to back?

Ah. So now the argument has changed. First it was Castro going to third. Now it's about style points.

Do you just want to argue? I don't. I stated that he should have stayed at 2nd cuz his base running sucks. However, I stated that you could argue it either way. Style points? It's a basic fundamental to pick up your 3rd base coach rounding 2nd. That means looking backwards while he's running is not the play to make. Chances are he might have been safe had he not slowed down looking backwards. Go argue with someone else, I'm not interested. I stated my opinion. If you don't like it, don't respond to me.

I'd be interested to see a replay to see if his 3rd base coach was holding him up after he rounded 2nd. I didn't see it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was.

It took a perfect relay to get him and it was debatable if he was out. He would be safe more often then not. People are just bitching to *****.

Castro goes yard. I guess we dont have to talk about his baserunning this game. Dude is batting over .370 in August.

It's an odd combination that someone slurping greater than Captain Obvious is also a Castro hater.

Agreed, he's definitely been playing great offensively at the plate. Credit where credit is due.
