Kasper doesn't believe in the jinx thing at all, I've heard him talk about it in interviews.
I'm starting to believe he is..

Second time in last week or so I heard him say if something happens it'll be the first time since forever ago and sure enough the first opportunity it was broken..

Do Len's magical jinxing powers not apply to Arrieta?

I don't think he was allowing Madden's trip to the mound. I think he makes up his own rules as he goes along.
Maddon wanted the corner IF to go talk with Hendricks. Dipstick West told Maddon he would count it as a visit. At least that's what I think.

Sucks Hendricks lost the no-no but that was still an absurdly good outing.

Congrats, Hendricks. Great game. Solid D behind him by Cubbies, too.

I can't believe there's such a thing as a disappointing win over the Cardinals, but this is it. Really wanted him to get the no-hitter.

Wasn't talking about just talking about the no hitter

He said if Hendricks no hits the Cards , he will be first Cub or pitcher to no hit them at home since forever ago when cubs were batting..

He did the same thing last week when cubs had something going streak wise and sure enough it was broken right after he said it..

The thing is...he gets it, he probably wins the CY. Now he needs to keep it going a bit.

I don't think so honestly. That's not to say he doesn't deserve it but he still doesn't have the name recognition outside of chicago even with a no-no. So much of the media is still enthralled by wins and k's.

All the Cardinals do is hit home runs...keep them in the park and you beat them. Hendricks did exactly that till the 9th, by then it was too late for them.

I'd welcome them in the playoffs....probably over any other team.

They whole thing was weird...

West tapped Montero to look into dugout, then when Montero went to the mound West grabs him and tells him to go back behind plate..
Then tells everyone to leave the mound..lol

Never seen anything like that before...

Coaches managers always tell players to go talk to pitchers
Mostly to kill a little time to let reliever get a couple extra pitches..
Its not illegal or charged as a mound visit

You can see Maddon say
WTF you doing
You fuk up Joe you fuk up

He dropped his ERA below 2.00, but HR bounced it back over. That's a rather magic number.

Arietta's ERA was sub 2.0 last year. Kyle threatening. Russell at SS is when Jake's transformation started.

Hendricks era without being high K pitcher showd how important D is.

If Lester didn't allow the occasional HR he'd be threatening 2.00 as well.

Maybe. But other than Jake, he's only one win short of the leaders. K's...well, that's not his game.

I think of he ends up with 18+ wins and keeps his ERA near 2
He has a great chance to win it..

I wonder if Joe West ever gets sick of knowing that wherever he goes, it is guaranteed that he will be the fattest person in the room.

I think he'll definitely be like top 3 but I could easily see them giving it to Bumgarner or Scherzer instead as they are your more typical guys. Ultimately, while it would be cool for him I don't think it's really something he cares that much about given the way he's talked. The other thing is the cubs play great defense and because of that you could make arguments for Lester and or Arrieta too. So, they might swipe some of Hendricks votes.

Here's something that's also rather absurd about Hendricks.... coming into tonight his WHIP was 0.99. Scherzer at 0.92 is the only pitcher better. I feel like we're getting to the point that he's just a lock for 6 good innings on a so-so night and if he's on we get deep runs like tonight.
