I don't want so stir the pot, but we have had Descalso, Bote, Garcia and Happ on the roster this season.

Does anyone here think any one of those guys is as good an all around ballplayer as Russell?

Rather they use Russell in a trade to get Whit.

Well tomorrow is the deadline. We need to add a bat that can lead off. We need that table setter
How you betting on that acquisition?

One thing we have not had in this entire run is a prototypical leadoff man.

Not that joe would lead off Ricky Henderson if given the chance.

Whit is at 2.7 WAR right now. 119 wRC+. He would cost something of quality. Russell would just be the starting dip. You could also add in 2 more prospects that don't suck. 3 if you go Russell, a top 10 and 2 in the 20-30 range.

Whit M from the Royals. Cubs don't have the pieces to get him.

They do. top 50 prospects hold heavy leverage.

Padres just had to give up their starting RF and 2 quality prospects just to get the #30 ranked.

Nico=Whit in trade value in this current market.

Cubs have nothing that would tempt the Royals.

You really don't understand. I'm sorry.

Check the trade threads. Stroman couldn't even get a top 100.

Bauer got a bunch of lower ranked with 2 major league OF. 1 is a DH and the other is a head case.

Padres had to give up their starting RF and 2 prospects for a top 30 prospect.

Like I said you really don't understand how valuable the #50 prospect really is.

and you just proved again your stupidity.

If Cub specs were worth a damn, Theo would be out there adding quality guys. Instead he's going after clowns like Holland and Maldonado.

I’m not trading Nico for Whit. We’ve been trading off our minor league talent for several years and it hasn’t pushed us over the top. That move isn’t doing it either. It’s time to let our talent develop in the minors and start using them on the major league roster.

This team isn’t living up to their talent and I’m not unloading our minor league talent just for them to waste it. These guys need to start living up to their hype. We can supplement them with our minors. No reason to continue a cycle of trading off young cheap guys and spending big in free agency just to get mediocre results

Or maybe he realizes it’s dumb to be unloading the few very good prospects they have if it’s not going to matter. This team already has the talent they need, they just aren’t playing up to it. They will either win or lose with what they have

Damn you really are a bone head.

From day 1 Theo has been very clear in payroll matters. The money is just not there to just send a no cost bunch of prospects. Then add on 6+ Mil this year.

He has said that the return would have to be overwhelming to trade any of their top 3 prospects.

So there are factors involved why they have been making minor moves. That are more so helping the current problems. Mald filled in for Contreras and got rid of Montgomery. This trade replaces Strop.

But yes there has not been a splash move and we all see it. This team needs a lead off really bad. So that is a deal worth trading a top prospect for.

IDK honestly. Whit helps today and comes with control. Nico is the #50 prospect but with Whit you really have no spot for him. Cubs need a lead off and a bat that hits LHP. Actually a platoon partner for Schwarber would be nice. I'm not saying Soler. That would be too much value going over and kinda weird to be honest.

Okay I'm sure Whit for Nico will be announced tomorrow. Keep checking your news feed.

I really doubt that Theo would either. He is holding onto this crop a little tight after tossing away the last crop and looking like a ass.
