They're constantly creating opportunities for themselves and different guys capitalize at different times. You can win a lot of games that way.

Rizzo should have done a better job hitting that line drive. You can't hit it right at the RF. He has to know that. [/greentext]

I remember someone last year mentioning how impressive Rizzo was because he just never had a bad at bat meaning even if the results weren't good he still made the pitcher work. Seems like everyone on the team is that way this year. Not an easy out in the line up most days.

Yeah, he should've directed down the left field line or better yet over the right field wall. Ok, there are some slap hitters that can direct the ball a bit but the big guys that take the huge rips have no idea where it's going.

They generally have control over which side of the field they hit it to, although there are at least some incredibly sharp individuals around here who would argue otherwise.

Anyone get the statcast on that Bryant infield pop-up with two on and no one out? It looked impressively high!

Good for him. I've not really been in his camp but I'm never unhappy to be proven wrong though prior to today he was hitting like .250 with no walks.
With the defense he showed at 3B, I'll take that fr9m a bench player and frankly LaStella is capable of more.

Couple more years of this and I hope to make inroads toward up-remembering Soriano, Milton Bradley, and of course, Carlos Marmol

He was 1-4 before today.

You seriously quoting the BA of a guy with 4 PA?

Though now he's hitting .500 so time to get the Canton speech ready.

Too early to pick nits so besides the obvious injury, you take a 5-1 trip with a +27 differential. Samples are too small to really make a comment on anyone or thing, but a few things I've noticed that could be things later on (both positive and negative).

Sign of a solid offense is when the big bats are silent, the others pick up the slack..

Zobrist Soler Montero and LaStella ... Also Arrieta helping himself in out

So true. Championship offenses always have that "anyone on anyday" thing going on. Good sign for the Cubs so far. When they're all hot at the same time, they might put up 20.

Great start to the year. A shame the pen let one slip away on Friday. Would have been great to have each SP be 1-0 thru 5. Great to see the lineup work counts and get that pitch count up early. Going to really draw on teams as the season goes on

That was my point. He hit well today but didn't in the PAs prior. That's not to throw shade on him. I was just throwing that out there as to not make declarative statements after suggesting I appear to have been wrong.

It was nice to see Ramirez come in and look like the 2014 Ramirez. Love the way Maddon picks his spots with his guys so as not to heap too much pressure on them. It was a great spot to get Neil out there and see what he has.
