Nice night for Hendricks. 6.2 IP of 2 run ball vs one of the likely playoff favorites.

Bryant is just lost in the sauce right now. Not sure whether he changed his approach to be more aggressive or he's not seeing pitches well right now.
Two doubles tonight? I don't think Kris is the one lost in the sauce.

One was hustle deflection off an infielder. Maybe next time watch the game and not just the box score?
Did you see his walk in his last AB? He's seeing the ball just fine...and I guess that means I was watching the game. Whoops!

If there's a problem with Bryant I'd wager it has more to do with batting after Rizzo so much this year. I personally think he's fine but if we're talking what's different this year that has to be at least some of it as Zobrist seems to be hitting in front of Rizzo most of the time.

We're 5 games into the season, I think it a bit early to be wondering or worried about Kris Bryant..

I'm more encouraged by the fact their scoring a bunch of runs and Heyward Bryant Russell Montero and Soler haven't really warmed up yet.

Not just that. The run differential is pretty huge for 6 games. They are +23 and only two other teams(Giants +15 and Dodgers +19) are over +15. They've already outscored in one game the total runs they've given up in 5 games(12).

Lets also remember that this is in away games. This team is doing exceptionally well in unfriendly settings.

I am ecstatic at our starting pitching so far. It is early but four out of five have had less than 3 runs in their starts. Lackey will be much better in his next start.

That's what happens when you hit the ball hard. Duh.

Kris Bryant is not getting paid to hit sharp singles. He was .176/.263/.235 heading in to last night, has struck out & popped out to the catcher with the bases loaded, is swinging at pitcher's pitches, and has shown an impressive amount of warning track power so far. It's very early, but he hasn't looked like himself. It's just an honest assessment.

Kriss Bryant is getting paid to hit the ball hard. Whatever happens after hitting the ball hard is up to the baseball gods. Too much worry about batting average/results. You mention striking out. Is there some reason you think he isn't going to K regularly...independent of how few or how many baserunning there may be?

Well, I did just read an article on how he changed the flight path of his bat. He isn't as straight down on pitches like last year. He is doing this because its supposed to help with some balls he was missing and balls he was fouling off. He did it to cut his K's down and they said the flight path actually gives him more power because he won't foul off as many pitches. We will see, but he has changed his swing a little for this year.

I know that. It doesn't mean he's going to strike out less than 100 times. He's a slugger.

So baseball players are incapable of directing the ball towards a certain part of the field? Hitting is completely random? Good stuff.

I still expect him to K regularly. However, with his "new and improved" swing, I hope to see less swinging through pitches and more putting the ball in play, especially when there are runners in scoring position and less than two outs.
