I'm talking '69....a few years in the 70's...then Dusty's teams after 2003. I'm not entirely sure exactly how it went down...but I seem to recall two straight years where we had a shot and just imploded at the end. Then last year. We were up how many games on Milwaukee? Now this year....had a big lead on Milwaukee at least....now it's the same thing. We lose...and they go on big streak. This...without Yelich. I don't have all the exact numbers of when the previous meltdowns actually started.
Brewers have won all of two games without Yelich. They have another 18. You blow your load way too much.

Also, nothing in the past has to do with the core since 15. Nothing. Its dumb to even say it.

So here's a stat for you.... Darvish's last 18 starts... 108.1 IP(assuming he's done after 6 today) 137 k's, 17 walks, 76 hits, 39 ERs. That translates to 3.24 ERA, 11.38 k/9, 1.41 bb/9 and a 0.86 WHIP. To put that into context, last year there were 3 pitchers over 11.38 k/9. Gerrit Cole(12.40), Max Scherzer(12.24), and Justin Verlander(12.20). Last year there was 1 player under 1.41 bb/9 in Miles Mikolas(1.30). Last year the best WHIP in the majors was Verlander at 0.90.

Davrish still has some issues giving up too many HRs over that time span which is why his ERA is a little higher than it probably should be but like.... the stuff he's been doing is elite of elite.

It'll be interesting to see if Ian Happ can finish the season over .200. I know batting average isn't as revered as it used to be...but it still matters. That and OBP. We have way too many guys with very low batting averages. That has to matter. OPS seems overrated....as it translates to actual wins. Both Rizzo and Bryant WERE top 10 in OPS but now Rizzo is 24th (not bad) and Bryant is now 31st.

4 run lead
9 outs to get

50-50 it's no decision for darvish?

Last year doesn't matter? This would be two years in a row of late, late season meltdowns. Hey..I don't like it...it just is what it is....and I think it's 3 games without Yelich.

Bryant is 53rd in the league in average....31st in OPS...49th in home runs...81st in rbi's....53rd in on base % 43rd in slugging %....250 with RISP.....250 with RISP and 2 outs. Somehow that just doesn't scream superstar. It screams a guy just above average. But if the perception around the league is that he is this superstar...then get what u can for him and let's get a REAL team in here...with a truly dangerous lineup.

This kind of stuff is why the perception of the Cubs as this great team is such a myth. Just 9 games over .500..(hopefully 10 after today) and in 3rd place. (hopefully tied for 2nd after today). These myths of such great hitters when the numbers just don't match the hype. For two straight years now. I love the romanticism about the 69 Cubs. LOVED that team. A bunch of hall of famers....and truly a lovable group of guys....but because of 2016 we perpetuate these myths of continued greatness. The "Bryzzo" combination is really not that good compared to other teams with a one two punch. Then you have the supporting cast. Guys like Happ...207 average...Russell....Bote.....Heyward......Almora.....way below average players. Add to this a horrible, dumpster fire bullpen for the most part. 26 blown saves is crazy....and you see why the Cubs are where they are.

I was just going to say I can't believe Ryan is getting a second batter in the 8th, my god Madden is senile, but now I'm like...shit I guess remember that sometimes Madden is a crazy wizard.

ASSHOLE BLAMES THE FANS NOT THE CUBS WHO ARE THE UNDERPERFORMING PROBLEM
He isn’t blaming the fans for the underperforming problem. He is rightfully suggesting some of the “fans” here aren’t mature enough to handle the ups and downs of baseball.

CANT SPEAK FOR THE OTHERS, BUT I HAVE BEEN A DIEHARD FAN SINCE 1962 AND SEEN EVERY COMBO OF GOOD AND BAD

THE FRUSTRATION THIS YEAR IS THE LIFELESS PERFORMANCE AND MANAGER THAT CAN'T INSPIRE THEM. THEY ARE ALL "TEAM" WHEN THEY ARE WINNING 9-1, BUT WHEN THEY ARE DOWN 2-0 THEY LOOK LIKE UNDERTAKERS

DON'T BLAME THE FANS FOR NOTICING THE DIFFERENCE

I agree. A lot of the dolts in here treat the Cubs not winning as a major catastrophe. The reality is that it's a bunch of millionaires playing a kids game. If it's so damn painful to watch....don't watch. The crying and moaning....the blow it up crap....nobody that can do anything about that is here. And the most laughable part is the fact that if they do absolutely nothing and leave things exactly as you see them today.....these same dolts will be right back for more next year.

LOL this is the same type of response as last season when the Cubs failed. Hilarious. Throughout the season people keep saying Cubs will be fine, it's a long season. Then when the Cubs routinely fail, the response changes to "it's just a game."

Funny shit.

Still feel that they should trade him after the year is done.

They need a lead off and a pitcher that pitches at Yu's level.
