Just horrible. If Cubs had any guts or balls they would be 2 games out of 1st right now. Instead...4 games out and tied with Milwaukee in the division when they just lost their MVP player. So..this "talented" Cubs team trots out their .210 hitter Ian Crap to try and get something going. Hell...get out Tony friggin Kemp and his .212 average to try and show the Padres who's boss. Pfffft. This is a death circus.

Full Meatball Jacket
This is what I don't get, we play great at times. And then I don't know what happens, we have a stint of 3-4 games where we are just phenomenal and then we drop the ball. I am not so sure about getting rid of Maddon, just because I don't believe it all comes down to wins and losses. I would have to agree with you on getting Lester though. I think he's reached his peak. I think we need to spend more time on our up and comers. I do think we also need to get rid of Hamels. After his performance in Philadelphia. OMG how ridiculous. Darvish has showed some real promise at least since after the All Star break, I think our offense can be there, but I don't know what gets in our heads after winning the 3 -4 game winning streak. I would like to think our playoff chances aren't over but it isn't looking good for us. We keep blowing our chances when the teams that we need to lose, lose and we lose as well. Like I said I still think Maddon is a great manager, I just really think our bullpen needs work. We have some real great starters, its a matter of getting some pitchers in to hold our scores. BUT that's just my opinion.

Cards lose 2 to Col.
Cubs playing a bad team in SD.
Can't gain even one game the last 2 nights.
Welcome 3rd place and bye bye wild card lead.

I mean what the hell is going on? I get to have some bad games against some good teams but to be losing two games against a team like San Diego this close to the playoffs?? What in the hell? It hurts to keep losing and not gain any kind of ground in the chase. Does this mean when the teams we need to lose we lose and when they win we win? That doesn't make much sense to me. I think our team has some potential but are we really choking? I want to have some hope but my god, my god lets go!!!!

They just don't seem like they want it. Theo needs to address the pitching on this team in the offseason, and he needs to take a good long look at some of the guys in the lineup. Dombrowski was fired for less than Theo has done.

I agree with you there. I think our pitching does need to be looked at. I don't know how many games I have seen this season where we have a real nice lead, and our starting pitcher comes out and the reliever comes in, and just like that the opposing team comes back to nearly tie or win the game. Even Kimbrel with how good he is, I don't get it. I suppose I never will.

This year is done...but next year hopefully big changes will be made and we get some REAL hitters. Not Ian Crap and his .206 average...or Tony Kemp and his .207 average...or any of these other vastly overrated schleps. Just blow this circus up. Trade Bryant while the league still thinks he's some kind of "superstar" and see what u can get. Stuck with the old nag Lester who should be sent to the glue factory...but maybe play him out of the pen. Which won't help...but at least it keeps him from doing a little less damage to the team.

How pathetic that the Cubs get shutout on 3 hits with so much on the line. They've given up. Gutless frauds.

The only pitchers that should still be here starting next year are Hendricks, Darvish, Q who I honestly wouldn't mind seeing leave at this point, Lester (contract), Kimbrel (contract), and the cheap arms they have bouncing between AAA and MLB. Hamels needs to go, Strop, Cishek among others need to go.

It's just another Cubs end of season choke job. We've seen it many times before. Nice to have 2016 though...but now it's back to the same ole end of season routine.

What does Maddon do with his restaurant after he gets fired? There is ZERO urgency with this team. Theo said "October starts in March"..."Year of reckoning" etc etc. Maybe he should look in the mirror. He's the one who crafted this weak lineup and dumpster fire bullpen together.

I totally agree with you there!! I really do think that Kimbrel has potential but to come on to our team and almost automatically go on the injured list is kinda crap. We have too many pitchers in our lineup that I think DO NOT have the potential. Especially after last nights clown show. Sure I am not a pitcher myself but to lose the game by walking the opposing team what a joke get the hell out of the ball club and find a better place to pitch!!

You forgot the one after the come back win against the Giants where KB hit the HR where Rizzo said 'a season defining moment'. These guys are so full of themselves when it comes to shit like this.

Keep Hendricks and Darvish. Lester would be a good #4 or #5.

Q - get rid of him. He had his career year this year but he went back to form like last night.
Hamels - gone
Sischek - gone
Strop - gone

They needed to get rid of Hamels back in Philly when they gave him a standing O and he gave them the W....

Theo can use the injury excuse I guess at the end of the year. but for those who have followed this team closely this year, even when most of the guys were healthy, they had many problems this year.

Not Theo's fault. Who here looked at this team after 2016 and didn't think they were looking at a dynasty? Theo put together a great looking team (at the time), then they shit the bed for 3 years.

"Year of reckoning" means perform or else. Now it's time for "else".
