Chatwood dominated for 3 innings, Ryan got i/3rd of an inning, walked 1, Phelps got 1/3rd of an inning, walked 1, Kintzler got 1/3rd of an inning walked one 3 hits, 2 earned runs. He stretched Wick for 2 innings

That would mean, Holland, Huitzen (who was dominant), Mills, Norwood, Underwood and Wieck were in the pen with Strop.

Wieck faced 1 hitter Monday, Mills, Holland and Norwood got one inning each on Monday, So you totta think Hultzen, Underwood and Wieck were still available. Use Hultzen to get thru the 10th and Underwood if a few are needed.

Just guarantee if it was a kid they would have been pulled after the first walk.

I would like to see Hultzen but I believe that comes with trust for Joe.

Game was tied and Joe has his 'trust' and his 'dont trust' set. Even Chatwood came in behind. He is under 'dont trust'. Strop did not come in. 'dont trust'.

So that is the method.

I think he belongs in the OF now and will move to 1B when he ages.

That brings up the next question.

Who would you rather pay?

Bryant 300M to play RF.

or
Nick 200M to play RF.

I think both are legit answers in RF but are you going to field a 30M per or a 20M per answer. They are simmiler hitters. Bryant will walk more and may be a better RF glove but that is far from proven.

That is my take at least. 10M AAV is not worth a few more walks per year.

Like I said earlier.

Horner (500K)
Schwarber (7.5M)
Nick (20M)
Rizzo (15M)
Baez (8M)
Contreras (5M)
Heyward (20M)
Russell (4M)

That is a fair line up. I feel that Nico will move to 2B when Russell returns off the concussion list anyways. Zo looks a bit lost at 2B this series and might need a few off anyways.

I dont want Bryant in right field. I want Heyward in right field. I have not seen any terrible defensive plays by Nick, but he does get pulled in close games like Schwarber and Heyward just seems stuck with balls hit right at him.

As far as right field now, then KB would not be playing with this bad knee. Its almost as logical of putting Willson in the outfield to get his bat in the lineup with his hammy and foot issues. Remember, he developed the foot issue from wearing different cleats with different support inside. He now has insoles, but its not an immediate fix. Does not look like Zobrist will be going to the outfield any time soon either.

As far as first base, I agree with a third or ex third baseman fitting at first base before an outfielder who never played infield since little league.

KB and Rizzo have been killing rallies, but you see OBP or .380 and .399 with them. Walks dont drive in runs though.

  1. Atlanta United FC
  1. Los Angeles Lakers
  2. Orlando Magic
  3. Phoenix Suns
  4. Sacramento Kings
  1. Columbus Blue Jackets
AS MUCH AS I LIKE COSTELLANUS HE IS DANGEROUS IN RF. AT LEAST 4 TIMES HE HAS JUST MISSED A COLLISION WITH HEYWARD BECAUSE NICK DOESNT BACK OFF WHEN HEYWARD CALLS HIM OFF ON A FLYBALL. EACH TIME HEYWARD GIVES HIM THE STINK EYE

EVREY 9 YEAR OLD LITTLE LEAGUER KNOW THE CF IS THE LEADER

FUN STORY: MICKEY MANTLE HAD MORE TALENT THAN ANY PLAYER THAT EVERY LIVED BUT HE WAS HELD BACK BU ALCOHOL AND LEG INJURIES. IN THE 1951 WS, CASEY STENGEL HAD MANTLE IN RF AND A WASHED UP DIMMAGGIO IN CF AS DEFERENCE TO JOE. DIMAGGIO WAS A WORLD CLASS ASSHOLE AND DINT LIKE MANTLE BECAUSE MANTLE WAS TAKING THE ATTENTION AWAY FROM HIM

THERE IS A FLY BALL TO RF AND DIMMAGIO RUSHES OVER TO TAKE THE BALL BUT DOESNT CALL OFF MANTLE UNTIL THE LAST SECOND. MANTLE HAS TO PULL UP FAST AND STEPS IN A DRAINAGE WHOLE FUCKING UP HIS KNEE FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER

Wow.

Good grey beard info.

But getting to the off season.

Nick is fine in RF.

If he takes out Heyward then that is a sub 100 wRC+ to replace in CF. It is not like we're talking about Baez getting launched into the ivy here.

I remember when Soler was a Cub.... Oh that is right. He was on the DL for 50% of the season for some reason or another.

Oh good.....the batboy tony kemp is leading off tonight.

Hopefully he can toss the ball to 2b and not cost the cubs 6 runs like zobrist has the past 2 nights.

Thinking trading Bryant is stupid shows a complete lack of awareness of how his contract situation is going to unfold, as well as the state of this team the last couple years
I lack concrete knowledge of how his contract talks will play out.

And so do the people saying “trade him”.

I am not suggesting they lose him in FA and get nothing.

I am suggesting the people who want to trade him in 2019 don’t give him enough credit, and don’t understand that the team is most successful when he carries it.

The team struggles when Bryant is not producing and when he is out. Pull him out of the lineup for 162 games and you’ll be discussing how high they will draft.

No. The team is talented with out him. You give him too much credit.

Theo did not build this team to be a 1 man show.

This is the reason why I've been saying Wheeler> Cole also. It is not about talent at all. It is about having the resource to build a contending team.

Here is the thing. We are now at the point that the draft built talent is coming to a end. Theo sold off the rest of the incomming talent to bolster this window. There is no next window.

So in view of this Theo needs to bail out after 2022 and let the next crew figure it out. Or he needs to create a next generation while contending.

That is all

Or...we can find a way to be perennial contenders like the Cards. That's what I thought we were doing here. For some reason that Cards window never really closes. Whatever. Even if we won't win division this year...at least that's how it looks...we are looking like we could finish in 3rd place. Brewers win tonight and we are 1/2 game away from 3rd place...pending tonight's outcome of Cubs game. How crippling would that be to end up behind Brewers AFTER they just lose Yelich? THAT is totally unacceptable.

And Shitsek? My gawd. 3 straight walks and he wasn't even close on the game loser. Why didn't Maddon get him the hell out of there? I blame Theo more than anyone for this meltdown. He's the one that crafted this roster together with sub par...at times garbage ass relievers....who have blown over 20 games this year. Yes...I will always appreciate the 2016 season and what Theo did to get us that WS title....but it sure has bought him a TON of equity when it comes to everything else. We know where our payroll ranks league wide...but when I see the .211 htting Happ...followed by the .212 hitting Tony friggin Kemp in a possibly season deciding game situation...it makes a guy wonder what the hell? We can't do better than to put THOSE GUYS up in this situation?
