Grimm's stuff is too good to be struggling right now.

What was Maddon thinking taking Lester out of a game with less than 100 pitches? Yikes.

Joe had too much faith in Grimm. After tonight's performance, I think his faith in Grimm will be sent down to triple a.

Later in the year, we'd look back and wonder why he had to keep a starer in with a 6-0 lead.

Later in the year, it will be Edwards on the mound.

Might be now. There are mixed reports out there as to who will be coming up if Soler goes to the DL, some say Almora some say Edwards because of the bullpen woes. I would have guessed Alcantara for his positional flexibility or Kawasaki because you know he is but neither of those names are being bandied about. Of course it's all speculation.

Tommy Birch believes it will be Almora. Im not sure. I would love to get Edwards up here and slowly work him into late inning pressure games. Dynamic arm that I believe we will need at the end. Im not exactly sure why Almora would come up. He would not start regularly and would probably be a defensive replacement. Now, if Fowler hand is sore and needs some time then I can see him.

Edwards taking Soler's roster spot will lead to one short bench.

Yes. A pitcher isn't going to be taking Soler's spot, if they are already short by having three catchers and an extra pitcher.

Yeah, probably right especially right now as they aren't ready to part with Federowicz just yet. Contreras left the game in AAA with an injury last night to add to that situation even further.

The Cubs had to pull outfielder Jorge Soler from tonight’s action due to a hamstring injury, as Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He’s headed in for an MRI tomorrow, but it seems as if a DL stint could be in his future. Veteran minor-leaguer Matt Murton could get consideration if that proves necessary, but skipper Joe Maddon also suggested that prospect Albert Almora could receive consideration.

Almora makes sense if they move Fowler to left. Just the range covered alone is worth it.

We haven't heard much about Fowler's hand. Hopefully he doesn't miss time as well.

It could hurt some but I see it as Bryant in LF and Baez at 3B. They would have to bring up a UI at that point. Zobrist is fine as a lead off.

It's being widely reported now that Almora is on a plane to Philadelphia as a precaution pending Soler's MRI.

I'm curious to see him against more advanced pitching. I've heard some who follow prospect-y stuff suggest he's not walking much because pitcher's aren't challenging him. In other words, he's not having to be patient because he's often finding what he thinks is a good pitch to hit. And given he's hitting .318 I can see that side of the argument. I'm also curious to see the god-tier defense the cubs might throw out with Almora/Fowler/Heyward in the outfield. That seems like the place where flyballs go to die.

Also I believe the cubs are still at 37 on the 40 man and Almora would need to be added to that.

Has to be added at some point this year regardless or he would be Rule 5 eligible. Just a matter of when.

Confidence. His issue as I see it, confidence. That will come with time. Why else does Maddon stick him in a game against a bad team with a 5 run lead. Confidence building exercise.

At least that's my take.

No kidding. That backfired.
