On this who catcher debate.

All I said was let him do video work with the pitchers and catch some bull pens this year. And then train for it in the off season.

It is up to the coaches and trainers to see if he has the tool set not you S.....

Anyways he has proven in the past if he has a goal in his vision he will shatter any obistacle. But retaining it after is a whole different story.

Regardless skills can be trained. He has the basic tool set and working with a trainer and some old school catchers on technique would go far.

That is why I said off season. This is a distraction to the task at hand.

Lets start with him having a consistent stick.

Robles not in lineup and Bryant gets the day off. He looked awful last night. Missed some really hittable balls

I am not sure which is my favorite part, the contention that Schwarber would be a better hitter playing a position that takes a physical toll on one’s body, or the reference to what his father thinks.
?

I was looking for a story when Kyle actually said he will never be a major league catcher, and that is all I found. Sorry to disappoint, it was not me who made the claim. I thought his father was a closer source than an internet forum superpower.

To think, a catcher, watching some 150 pitches a game, tracking movement, watching spin, dont have a better idea when they are at the plate.

I could by immersion. Where as he is focused on the process of how to approach hitters and he is able to take that knowledge to the batters box.

But the whole spin stuff is really off. Barry Bonds and Tony Gwinn were premier hitters and they played at the corners.

Schwarber swings at a fastball in his eyes. Looks at a fastball down the middle. Swings at the slider that was never a strike. He is the most frustrating guy on the team period.

I agree. But his avg production is more acceptable at the 2 vs the 7.
That makes no sense!
Having the exact same bat in the lineup while weakening the defense does not help.
Why do people constantly do this?

“Gee, Ozzie Smith isn’t hitting much. Let’s have him pitch. That will make his offense look better. “

High wall in Pitt. Has to clear the yellow line. It hit two feet under it.
Why no double though? That was strange. It could have went 2 feet under and been a HR. Oh well...
