Hard to believe but Pittsbugh is on the brink of delivering a Death Blow to the Cubs 2016 season. Like Jesse Rodgers said, a sweep would do irreparable damage to our young, fragile team.

Incredible to say on July 9th but our season is basically on the line this weekend. It would take a complete game shut out from Lester to save it.

@CarrieMuskat: #Cubs Maddon on Fowler: "The word I got back was that he didn't feel anything other than the fact that he knew he could not push it"

Sound like he might need another week to return, Maybe after the Rangers series

Or that it's a nagging injury through the rest of the season

If you really believe that there is any validity to anything that slops out of Jesse Rodgers' mouth....then you have done "irreparable damage" to your own credibility.

Unfortunately I think that where Soler is at...

I think if a team willing to take a chance on Soler and ask for him in a deal, they should let him go

Fowler, lets hope its not extended too long..
Just, if he doesn't feel ready to play an inning or two in ASG after playing a AA game. Its probably going to be a little longer then next weekend for a return.

Cubs need an easy win tonight which would hopefully relax them for another easy win tomorrow

Rizzo got jammed just enough to keep it, but no worries. Zobrist goes boom. 2-0

They put some good swings on him. Rizzo was a bout an half inch off the barrel from putting it out. Jhey starting to get the hits he wasn't fetting

Was wondering how Heyward was doing since being put in 6 hole and they showed he has reached base 11 off 22 PA.
So, hopefully that what gets him going..their going to need him in 2nd half.

Come on Lester. He is not giving the low strike. Adjust

Wtf

Are these pitchers that mentally challenged that they can't right themselves after tough games or pitch to a different catcher

I hope people see the work Contreras needs. He receives the ball awful and that throw to third was not necessary and terrible

Pittsburgh puts the exclamation mark on an authoritative end to the Cubs.

Baseball is a funny sport. We went from buyers to sellers in one month.

If I'm Theo the only two guys I'm making available are Arrieta and the aging Zobrist. Have to imagine we could get a slew of young, top end arms for them.

Even though this season has turned into the second worst in my 36 years as a Cubs fan - I would not be surprised to see us make the playoffs next season. Getting back Schwarber will help a ton.

We'll definitely break through in the 5-to-10 year window. And man, the parade at Wrigley will be the best experience of my entire life.
