5 RBI's for Bryant! Glad he came to play. Also, Heyward getting hits he deserves. Baseball is a weird game.

7 may not be enough for 5 inning Jake and the bullpen. Don't stop now, KB

So is it time to start assuming Arrieta is just good not ridiculous anymore? He's been playing with fire most of the year and managing to escape.

He cant throw his fastball for a strike at any time and he keeps forcing it. He is getting frustrated. He is reverting back to his original issues which was consistency throwing strikes. He is in his head right now and that worries me over anything on this team by far.

Arrieta is doing fine. He just got out of a couple of jams. He's given up 3 runs in 4 innings. Not a typical Arrieta performance but I think he like the rest of the team does just enough to get through the game. He's going to win his 12th game tonight. Best in the NL. Only Sale has more with 13. I would say the guy has been pretty lights out. Oh and Bryant owns Reds pitching. These are his 5th and 6th HR against the Reds this year on top of about 20 RBIs. Guy is a machine. Everyone is hitting the ball. Nothing like the Reds to wake up the Cubs bats...

No, its concerning because all 3 runs were walks. He has walked 4 and has walked some not so good hitters. He is having issues controlling his stuff. That is not good and he needs to correct it because it becomes a regular problem.

Jake goes oppo! Stephen A is gonna want him to piss after the game

LMAO. This is funny as shit. Its so funny how anyone playing well has to be on juice. I hate to tell you but you would have to be a total dumbass to be on juice during the season considering its an 82 game suspension if he tests positive.

Yeah his control hasn't been great but he keeps pitching out of jams. One way or the other Jake seems to get out of more jams than any other pitcher I have ever seen...

My favorite teams
  1. Colorado Rockies
  1. Atlanta United FC
  1. Los Angeles Lakers
  2. Orlando Magic
  3. Phoenix Suns
  4. Sacramento Kings
  1. Columbus Blue Jackets
Analysts were talking about how the Cubs cant win close games. My observation is that they are a "Pile On" team. If they winning 4-0 they are sure to score another 5 runs they didnt need. But when it's close or they are behind they are sure to shut down and lose the game. Under that premise expect them to score 11 tonight

I'd say it's concerning more because he's done this in most of his last 5-10 starts. He's gotten away with in some but as I mentioned he's played with fire. I don't particularly care if a pitcher has one worrisome outing but his walk rate is almost double what it was last year. That's a problem.

Ok, just so you shut up. The Cubs were 34-21 in one run games last year with 13 walk off wins to 4 walkoff losses. This year they are 10-11 in one run games. 1 walkoff win 3 walkoff losses. Its called baseball. So, you are telling me last years team was better because they won one run games?

Just for more perspective, the Mets last year were 25-24 in one run games. The Royals last year were 23-17. So, by your logic, the Cubs should have beat all their asses and won the World Series.

If that's the analysts opinion I think it is fairly dumb. The cubs are a team that is going to play a lot of 1 run games because they are a good team. And they are going to lose a lot of 1 run games because they aren't going to get blown out. In other words, unless you assume they are going to win most if not all of their games they are going to lose a lot of tight games. As for piling on, you might not be entirely wrong though I think your reasoning is off. I think it's more of a case that when the cubs are playing well they will walk a lot and force into a teams bullpen and then feast on that bullpen. When they aren't hitting well they deal more with starters who tend to be better pitchers.

Case in point about not getting blown out, here's the games they have lost by 3 or more runs

Friday, Apr 15 COL against Chad Bettis 6-1
Saturday, Apr 23 CIN against Dan Straily 13-5
Wednesday, May 11 SD against Colin Rea 7-4
Tuesday, May 31 LAD against Joe Blanton 5-0
Monday, Jun 13 @WSN against Scherzer 4-1
Friday, Jun 10 @ATL against Bud Norris 5-1
Wednesday, Jun 22 STL against Micheal Wacha 7-2
Saturday, Jun 25 @MIA against Paul Clemens 9-6
Sunday, Jun 26 @MIA against Jose Ferandez 6-1

So the have 9 loses of 3+ out of 74 games, 11 in 1 run games and 6 in 2 run games.

If Arrieta has a rough outing against the Mets, then ill start getting a bit concerned.. itll be 3 rough ones in a row for him.
.
Last thing you want is your Ace not able to go deep in games and need offense to keep bailing him out.

Yeah but considering the stretch the Cubs are in, I'll take a win any way I can get it. Fucking 1 run game. The Cubs are trying to give me a heart attack Im sure of it!!!! Strop better come out and have a 1.2.3 eight and Rondon better slam the door in the ninth. Were playing the Reds for the love of God!!!!
