I don't know. Perhaps he found a forum that had a bunch of people living and dying by every pitch in a 162 game season.
Or he found two or three alts.
He was here every single day. Since he left, we have three or four brand new names.
It's not hard to connect those dots.
Considering how bad his posts were under his own "name", how bad did it have to get that he changed identities?

Good win. they finally got the bats going when starting on the road. Usually the bats are dead the first 2 games of the series and explode in the last game.

Get one more. Split is good enough. If they can get more great.

5-5 on this road trip would be an improvement.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs

  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Looking at the division right now, Milwaukee is 3.5 back. Cardinals took a 1 game lead in the series with the Cubs. Now StL is 4 games back. This team isn't at 100% yet. Let's see if they can keep this pace up and finish strong.

6 run lead. Two outs. Underwood K's a guy, and Joe makes a pitching change.

I am not worried with a 6 run lead, but.....why change? What if the next guy doesn't have it? You keep changing. You use a lot of pitchers.

This is precisely the situation to use Underwood and see what he does, even if he allows a run or two. Test him.

I believe he is conserving resources. They still have three to play and he's probably already burned both Hamel and Chatwood for the weekend. He wants to have Underwood available if needed.

My guess would be that no one paid any attention to him....he went onto a lot of ignore lists. The only guys he interchanged with.....were guys he was arguing with. There's another on here and he's not one of Chi55's alts...but much the same. No friendly back n forth....just daily posts of little or no interest, mostly Maddon hate. Only guys responding do so to argue.

Holland has a 1.59 ERA and a .71 WHIP as a Cub. It might be time to test him some as a bridge guy.

Here is the thing.

They are at cap of 13 guys.

You are going to get Kimbrel and Kintzler back and both deserve roster spots.

The short sticks are Underwood and Wick here. And it is a good problem to have. But when Strop, Cishek and Kintzler go off the books you know you have 2 guys that can back fill at league min.

IDK. There is nothing wrong with banter back and forth. Choad annoyed me more with his doom and gloom predictions of reverse fate. That was pretty bat shit logic.

At least Chi55 was a strait shooting Nancy negative.

I guess I was figuring the opposite. Don't use every reliever for an out or two as though it's 3-2. But he didn't. But he did use guys he may need the next few days. No harm done.

On another note. Cubs are closeing in on Oakland for the 8th best record in baseball. IMO they need to set their sites higher than just winning the NL Central. Then need to go after ATL for 2nd best.

I have no issue with the real fans getting a little upset when we lose games we should have won, blew a save, etc.

But the dozen guys here who only post after a loss, and extrapolate it to mean we have another 108 year dry spell coming is more than a little annoying.

Agreed. This team needs to keep driving. They started the 2nd half without Hamels, lost Strop, Edwards and Kintzler to IL. They are still without Z.

And since the break they are 7 games over.

They look like the team we knew they were. Keep pushing.

This lead at the end of the day today is the largest of the year.

It is certainly not large enough that anyone should take anything for granted. But it's trending in the right direction.

Solid win tonight. Way to stake Hamels and then bail him out.

I agree

On the pen topic I think Joe is just giving guys opertunites and keeping them on a semi rotation.

On Lester's game it was Underwood and Holland
Q Phellps and Strop
Hamels was Chatwood Underwood and Ryan

Next game Strop should pitch a inning. Joe would have Wick and Cishek available. Holland also.

I think that they will be fine. Only guy I dread right now is Cishek.

Hang your hat on Nick. Happ rebounding also. The current line up you could pencil in for 2020. Just extend Nick and focus on rebuilding the pen.

Cards had been up and down and all around .500 the entire first half. Then they got hot, and actually moved into first. And in a blink of an eye, the Cubs have gained 5 games on them in 7 days, and lead them by 2 games more than at the break.

(While we played 7 games in 7 days and they had 2 days off)

Also was reading that Nick really likes his teammates. They are clicking already. I doubt that it would be a issue on anyone if he gets signed. I find it refreshing to have a guy that just hits.

Happ was missing pitches by a foot in his first couple games and was very discouraged. Since then he has been doing very well.

They got mowed down by the A's and the Dodgers. Cubs got the A's at home.

I wouldn't be upset if they signed him, but everyone here seems to think we should do that after a week. Why would we not wait? It has literally been 8 games, right?
