I have a feeling Addison Russell is going to be my favorite player soon! Love his approach at the plate and I love his hustle on defense

Wada effect.

Dude was not the same with out his partner in crime.

Been saying for awhile now that Hendricks' underlying numbers were actually better than last year. Was waiting for actual performance to catch up. His ERA dropped almost a full point. His FIP dropped from 3.89 to 3.44. Really liking that 7.36/2.21 k/9 bb/9. Shows you that while his stuff isn't "amazing" people are having some difficulty with it. His line drive rate is also down to 17.4% which is about 2% lower than last year though that isn't counting today. League average is 21.2%.

Nice game Kyle. Dominated by the youth of Bryant, Russell, and Hendricks. That-a-way boys. :buttrock::buttrock:

Complete game shutout win

When the last time that happened

Great game by Hendricks. .keep it going

Funny this game.. thinking Hammel could get the win and hope you can get one from wada or hendricks and they get them both wins...

Now they have top 3 going in Arizona. . keep the streak going, need to get to 10 games over .500

Wheres the Hendricks haters now? Not to often you see a 5th starter in the rotation pitch a complete game shut out.

The next 18 games are tough on the schedule. The Cubs need to at least play .500 ball during this stretch up until June 10th. The play @AZ, Wash, KC, @Mia, @ Wash, and @ Det. Get off to a good start in Arizona before heading home. Would be a great momentum builder.

We will see what this team is made of for sure.

Count'em down fellas. A good start would be taking two of three from the D-Backs.

Thank goodness for some good pitching lately. The Cubs have scored 3,3,3,0,4 over the last 5 games.

Believe it or not I think that is a good thing minus the 0-fer in there. The biggest problem they had previously hitting wise was they were inconsistent. Now you'd probably like to be closer to 4 than 3 but they were at least showing some consistency.

Legit question here. If Castro were just called up last year or the year before and made similar mistakes does he get the benefit of the doubt? Feel like it's easy to forget he basically skipped most of AA and AAA.

That excuse maybe worked the 1st 3 years of his career. Should have died 2 years ago

Not bad. After the team allowed 10 runs last Friday, Cub starters went through the rotation and allowed 4 ER in the last 5 games. And 2 of the 4 were by Wada making his first start.

Even in splitting the last 4, they lost two in which Arietta and Hammel allowed 1 earned run between them.

Keep pitching like that and a lot of good things happen!

I'm just saying Castro is 25. Bryant is 23. If Bryant makes a mistake it's "well rookies being rookies." Not quite so if it is Castro. Now I don't know about all of you but when i was 21-23 I wasn't making the best decisions. I was routinely drinking my liver away between college courses. In other words, takes awhile for people to grow up.

23 -17.

Last year, when the Cubs had 23 wins, they had twice as many losses.

Progress!

So, for those questioning whether a 10-15 game improvement was possible this year (over 162 games), through 40 games - not quite a quarter the way through the season, the Cubs' record is a 10 game improvement.

They were 13-27 last year through 40.
