Can't beat a 4 game winning streak if for no other reason than keeping the Dildo/alts away.....
That's funny. Normally we'd be thinking about separating from division opponents, but that is a valid statement - may be second best part of winning. Or best.

Kintzler reportedly has discomfort in his right pec.

I am having a little discomfort now myself.

Jon Lester, we only need you to go 9 Tuesday.

Take aways.

Baez is unreal.
Happ got all of that pitch. Keep it up and he might be on 2B.
Cishek should never be in a game that is close anymore.
Wick needs to be in a more predominate role in the pen.
Kintzler should also.

This week is going to be rough and the pen looks to be the heel of the team.

Well Alozay is off the DL at AAA. Might be time to promote him into the pen. I would lean on Alozay, Chatwood and Wick until this bug passes.

If Kintzlers issue is a DL stint they gotta call up Alzolay right?

Well, his stats say otherwise and numbers dont lie

Last 7 games: 6 ER
Last 15 games: 7 ER
Last 30 games: 11 ER.

So he has been kicked around recently. Something is going on with him for sure.

Cards have far fewer errors than the Cubs, and are not nearly as good defensively, even with our issues.

THREE fly balls that are caught by nearly every OF in baseball have dropped tonight, and all three were scored doubles.

Two were high fly balls that two OFs converged on and waited for the other to catch it, and one was off the stone glove worn by Jose Martinez, who (again) took a poor route and missed it.

8-0 Dodgers behind a Frank Zappa look-alike. Cards have one hit thru 5.

Basically pen right now:

Cishek 8th inning
Kintzler 8th inning
Ryan 8th inning
Phelps extra depth
Wick 7th Inning
Chatwood long relief
Underwood Mop up
Holland LOOGY

40 man pitching depth (AAA ERA/WHIP)

Alozay 4.70/1.35
Maples 4.96/1.44
Mills 4.94/1.39
Norwood 5.01/1.35
Rosario 3.81/1.77
Steele (AA)
Wieck 3.38/1.50

That is why I said Alozay. You know that he has upside in shorter stints. He gets into trouble around 60 pitches. We really haven't seen him in a situation where he can just go 100% effort.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Purdue Boilermakers
Man, this is a weird bullpen until they get Kimbrel and/or Strop back. I'd almost use Wick as the closer over Cishek since Wick has had professional saves (albeit AAA). The problem people have with Cishek is he gives up all his runs at once so it looks way worse. He's given up his 20 ER over just 11 of his appearances and his other 42 appearances are no runs at all.

To compare, Josh Hader has given up a run in 10 of his 40 appearances.

That's seems to be the issue with Strop as well. It does really piss you off though when a reliever gives up multiple runs in close games.

I believe that was the first time Cishek has given up multiple HRs.

I would have guessed it has happened this season.
