Cubs Win!

Too bad the Rockies ineptitude will keep us from getting that #1 WC spot

Soler making a strong case for that playoff roster!

I assume this is a sarcastic reference to some prior post I missed

#wearegood LaStella rocks!

I believe a certain someone said that this guy would be better than people thought. :smug2:

His average is up to .275 with a .339 OBP. Just give him reps. He is going to be a very valuable piece for the Cubs for a few years in my opinion.

I love hard outs, and player that he can play different positions.

We have him for the league minimum, and we got him for Viscaino.

Im thinking soler goes and Jackson doesn't right now, unless they take less pitchers..

I'm confused.... who are the OF you think are going? My assumption would be Fowler, Cogs, Soler, Schwarber and Jackson and leaving Deno, Berry and Szczur off. Assuming you go with a 13 man positional players you'd have 5 OF, 2 C and 6 IF presumably consisting of Ross/Montero, and then Castro, Rizzo, Baez, Russell, Bryant and probably La Stella over Herrara.

I mean to me the OF up for grabs is Jackson and Deno not Soler.

I was assuming Grimson was matching Soler and Jackson
When he said Soler was making a case..

Jackson has struggled here with a .212 Avg and 14 Ks in 52 AB
I think Denorfia will get the nod over him

Need a new 3rd base coach. Aggressive is one thing, but this guy if effing blind.
Jones should be replaced ASAP. Maybe switching him to the 1st base box and moving Hyde to the 3rd base spot could be a short term solution. The guy has made quite a few terrible decisions this season and could cost them a important game down the road. Heck he reminds me of "Waving Wendell", may he RIP.

He's been so bad the Cubs are only the 2nd Wild Card at the moment.

Maybe but I personally think Jackson's better defense and speed comes more into play than his bat especially in the playoffs. If you get a decent 1 or 2 run lead in the playoffs with Schwarber in LF you might yank him for Jackson. Deno isn't terrible defensively but of the two I'd imagine Jackson is the better.

They didn't trade for Jackson and play him as much as they have for him to be off. Denorfia is barely getting any at bats and neither is Herrera.

Do you actually watch the games? Yesterday he again sent a runner home who would have been a sure out had the catcher not juggled the ball and later put up a late stop sign for Bryant, which had injury written all over it.

And? That's part of baseball. The OF must be challenged to make a perfect throw and the catcher to come up with the ball cleanly. It seems to me you don't understand how the game works.

Seriously. If you watch a lot of baseball Gary Jones is one of the best third base coaches working. One of the reasons you can tell that is that his name, apart from the last two days, is seldom discussed. He just does his job. This guy managed and coached mostly 3B in the minors for 17 years (his last seven years in the San Diego organization were as an instructor). You can question some calls, hell you can question some of Maddon's calls, but this guy does his job pretty well. The things willycat brings up are a small snapshot of a much larger sample size.

I've been on Jones a bit too but his mistakes have been minimal....the games are just so important now, that when he does make one it tends to stand out. Comparing him to "Wavin Wendall" is a bit harsh to a guy that has been pretty damn good at what he does. I don't care what you do for a living...somewhere along the line you make a mistake. It's just part of being human.

Ok but I will stand by the fact that he has made a lot more then a couple bad sends. Hope he doesn't cost the Cubs a game in the playoffs.

You asked if I watch the games. Perhaps you should watch what you post. If you can't take criticism of your position you're going to have issues on any forum.

Eh, knock that sand out fellas. He does make some over aggressive calls. But, I would assume that comes from the bench because he hasn't wavered off of it and Im sure Maddon would have handled it by now. Now, I like aggressive, but know who you are being aggressive on. The Hayward throw the other day I thought was a bad send 10 out 10 times. The CF catches it then I agree with the play. I have just seen Hayward be way to accurate for to long for Rizzo to make it. I understand putting pressure, but you are talking one of the top arms in the league. I thought giving the circumstance. It was an unnecessary send.
