He's still half a win ahead of Seager, so it's still not close. He hasn't hurt anything.
Something tells me the voters don't go by WAR when they vote

Plus

It not Seager that pushing him for MVP its
Arenado .296 37 HR 121 RBI .939 OPS
Bryant. .296 37 HR. 95 RBI .955 OPS

At this point, does it really make a difference? The question isn't "if" anymore...it's when.

I'm sure the players would prefer to get it over with sooner rather then later..
Plus
I'm sure they would of liked to celebrate after the game tonight.
Cardinals lose and they clinch that way, kinda takes the fun/excitement out of it.. Their not sticking around and celebration holds off til after game tomorrow..
That What they had to do last year

For me personally... I work, so I'll miss the game tomorrow

WAR plays into it for sure and Arenado isn't close, plus he's not on a playoff team. While you can win it on a losing team your performance has to be extraordinary. It's Bryant or Seager for sure and Bryant has the edge plus it's rare to win RoY and MVP. Bryant would have to slump for most of the rest of the year to lose.

Seager not winning MVP

Arenado definitely in the picture, no matter what his team doing..
The Guy finishes close to or over .300, with 40 HRs 130 RBIs
He getting votes

Like I said Bryant slump the last couple weeks is hurting his chances..
He needs to turn it on and finish strong the last 2 weeks to keep pace at least with Avg and HRs with Arenado.

Bryant Avg dips closer to .290 then .300 and Arenado pulls away in HRs and beefs up his RBI totals, he getting a lot of votes..

I've been a big Contreras backer, especially for starting in playoff
But
I'll admit the last week or so Contreras has put himself on the bench
While
Montero has put himself in the lineup

He isnt in the picture. wRC+ adjust for park factors. He is 16th.

It is between Bryant, Seager, and Murphy with Rizzo coming on. The only way I see Bryant not winning it is if Rizzo finishes so well that they split votes and Seager sneaks in. Also, being on a playoff team def. matter to MVP voting. Its why Trout isnt getting the love like he should besides having another Trout year.

I could be wrong but I don't see these voters especially if most are old schoolers, looking hard into sabre metrics when they vote..

They had somewhat of that conversation on ESPN radio not long ago and was talking about the same thing regarding how most of the voters aren't into Sabre metrics..

But my whole original post wasn't that Bryant not or isn't the top MVP guy today..
I just said his last couple weeks struggle hasn't helped, and especially if it continues into these last 2 weeks.
