Dynamite stuff. Has control issues. If they can get him to be more consistent, he may be our future closer.

I agree. i would just have him focus on a fastball and location. As far as a off pitch it matters little in the pen. Can even use a change up as long as it is deceiving.

I see the Cubs playing like shit ..

Good thing Montero caught Arrieta today over Contreras , Arrieta mightve thrown 200 pitches in 5 innings and walked 10 batters..
But hey lets make sure he comfortable with his crappie catcher. .

Gonna get swept and embarrassed today by the Cardinals. ..
Possible first round playoff matchup

That trade was to bring Zo in. Maddon was talking about him all last year like he was his son gone to war.

Ok

They did play like shit, but you do overreact. Also with Arrieta struggling with command the last guy you want catching him is a rookie. Not good for either one. I would suspect Ross with catch Arrieta and Lester for awhile.

Yep. Frustrating. That's loss 23 now...lighten up, folks. There's probably 35-40 more to come...it's 162 game schedule. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon.

The Cards have beat us three straight!!!! Look out!!! Potential playoff opponent

The cubs swept the Mets last season. How did that work out for them in post season play?

Regular season = means to an end and the Playoffs are a whole new ballgame.

So when they play like shit, im not allowed to say they played like shit ? cause that overreacting to them playing like shit ?

So, let a veteran catcher continue to catch him as he continues to struggle with command ?
Because that has worked out great his last few starts

I believe the Rookie has been a Catcher for years..
He a pro ball player, he knows how to catch

He wont be the first ever Rookie to catch a veteran pitcher or a control struggling pitcher...

Lmao....

So we can say they look great when they win but catch hell if you say they look like shit if they lose, cause that overreacting..

You guys are funny...

I didn't say the Cards were potential playoff opponent because of the lost.. look at the standing, their third in WC standing, i think 2 games out..
WC winner plays best team, which is Cubs

So, yea potential playoff matchup

I'm glad there's no off day tomorrow. I just want this team to go back out there ASAP and put up a W after this terrible series.

Arrieta has been kinda off his last several. He's been bailed out by a lot of support lately. Today he wasn't doing well but only gave up runs due to the error.

This offense will be our downfall in the playoffs. Pitching can only do so much if we aren't executing with RISP or at all. And just like in the LCS last year, pitchers these guys are going to see are the cream of the crop.

Exactly...
Which is why ive been saying if they can upgrade bench, bullpen, rotation, or position player they should do it.

Post season a different animal then regular season

So you've watched Maddon manage for more than a year but have completely failed to grasp why he's so successful. Your ignorance is impressive, really.

Lmao...

They played like shit and lost a game , what does anything you just mentioned have to do with making a simple comment of how their playing in a current game.

I just dont understand some of you

Its ok to say your team played a bad game when they do..

Mrcub just posted Arrieta been off his game lately and bailed out by offense...
Oh my god how dare he say that about a cubs pitcher and Arrieta no less... ban him from being a cubs fan..
doesn't he know Arrieta a cy young and won 10 games

Arrieta said he needs to make some adjustments. Maddon said it was his fast ball command. Montero said the Cards were sitting on strike 1. Basically they were making Jake throw strike one vs swing at a ball. Not to mention they sat on pitches that they hoped would have been swung at.

The Cards came in with this game plan and it worked. Now the staff has to readjust to it before other teams clone this.

The basics are pretty basic. Get ahead in the count and force the hitter to become defensive.

I remember your panic displays last fall when the Cubs were in the process of losing a playoff game to the Cards and going down a game in the series. You were standing on that overpass over the Kennedy ready to jump. When the game was over and the Cards had won you stated something like "I'm done, series over have a nice off season" . :nelson:

Lmao. ..

Yea because a fan never gets too high or too low during the playoffs..

Some of you crack me up on here. .

Its ok to lash out when they lose or have a bad game, just as it ok to be excited and all when they win..
That what being a die hard fan does..

I guarantee you all do it at home
