Soler had 7 multi hit games in 36 starts before the DL. 5 HR in 152 PA.

Soler has 3 multi hit games (his previous three starts) and has 3 HR in 21 PA.

Soler is still 24 years old. To prove how old that is, Ben Zobrist wasn't even in the major leagues yet until AFTER he turned 25. I'm not saying he's going to figure out and show the potential .280/.350/.450 slash line but he's probably going to be better than the .223/.322/.377 he showed before the DL.

Jeez... this is a pounding. Given the cards were already sort of struggling a game like this makes you wonder how they perform after this game and if they let the past 2 game beat them in the 2 following.

This is a beautiful thing to see. The Cubs are pounding the playoff life right out of the Cards Heart today.

Szczur is just fucking impressive this year

Yeah. He could probably be at least a good platoon player and probably just a regular starter on several teams. Cubs really feel like an AL team that just happens to play in the NL. Their bats are crazy deep.

He's doing his best impersonation of Edwin Jackson....and he's pretty good at it.

Break a finger. Smack them around. Give them a taste of what they will get if they try to be the WC.

Jackson has been pretty solid as a Padre. He came into Wrigg as a poor WF pitcher. He seems better suited with bigger parks.

It's a

So? The Cubs in the midst of this streak came back from 6-0 and 4-2 (both times with multiple runs in the ninth). When you don't pile on, your chances of winning goes down. Sure you want to "save" runs but that's just not how baseball or any team sport has ever worked.

The key to remember is that this wasn't a pile on where they scored 10 runs in the eighth of a 3-2 game, they scored seven runs in the first two innings and continued to bury their opponent and never gave them any glimmer of hope.

As a team, they were 4-9 with RISP. They had more XBH (9) than strikeouts (7). The starter went 5+ of one run ball. They scored multiple runs in four different innings. I simply don't know what you want from a team.
