Papelbon a FA after this year....
Wouldn't have any bearing on making Chapman an offer or not for next year.
I personally don't care if he comes or not, just saying it wouldn't surprise me if he does end up here..
Ties with Epstein and Hoyer , Ross, and I believe Lester made a push for him last year and I think this year at deadline.
Papelbon would have nothing to lose but lots to gain if he came here..
He obviously would know Chapman the guy but if he would to come here and take Strop spot and help ease the work load for Rondon while he tries to get back to 100%..
He puts himself in better position come off season FA and he puts himself on a team with a great chance this year to win it all..

Listening to the insufferable John Rooney on Cards broadcast. Easily the most condescending jackass in the game.
As is his m.o., every ball and strike call that has gone the Cubs way has been questionable or simply bad. But cards pitchers are credited with great location if an outside pitch is called a strike.
They have absolutely awful TV guys, but Rooney somehow finds a way to be worse.

Just had that feeling when the bats went quiet, the Cards were gonna get those 2 runs and then take advantage of the Cubs pen today
