Upgrades at what?If cubs offense struggle today with 2 rookies going with ERA in the 5s, then theo and jed need to be on the horn this weekend looking for upgrades....
No way I would ever move Russell away from second. He's taken to second base like he was born there. The only guy I've ever seen move from one infield spot to another and make it look so natural was a guy named Sandberg.
The thing is any team already has guys getting paid a lot less that could do no worse than EJWell is he really any different than the cubs picking up Maholm and others off the scrap heap? I mean at $11 mil next year he is different but if the cubs are willing to eat say $6 mil of that I'm sure someone is going to need a depth starter and Jackson at least seems to always be healthy. I'm thinking a team like Philly could make sense as they seem to be years away from competition. Then again their GM doesn't think normally. If Milwalkee sells off hard they could be another team. I could also see him doing well in a Safeco/Petco type park with an athletic defense behind him. I don't think this includes last night but fangraphs has him at 3.30/2.91 ERA/FIP on the season. You could honestly do far worse in FA especially for someone who is as durable as he is.
To be perfectly honest, if they didn't already have Wood who I think is a better pitcher as well as being younger I honestly wouldn't hate him in the long relief role. You're paying him either way and it's not exactly like you're expecting good things if you're bringing in your long relief guy anyways.
They need to find a guy who can add a spark to offense. ..Upgrades at what?

Wheather it an obp guy with speed they can plug into lead off spot or a guy who can just plain hit and can plug into middle of order and drive in runs. ..
Wheather its a guy they can plug into LF every day and benefit having cogs and denorfia on bench..
Im not against releasing / trading Fowler if they can upgrade in CF .. about 4.5 mil left this yr on deal..
Im sure im probably the only one who thinks Russell needs to go back down and work on his hitting and find it again to be ready for 2016... i see his confidence dipping every game, you can see it in his eyes/face.. he needs to get rejuvenated. ..
One of those 3 spots id look to upgrade at ....
You never put emotion in your post. Never ever.
The wind is either really blowing in or Castro ball completely fooled me. I thought that was a gapper and it just like died all of the sudden.
