Cubs blast the ball one night next night don't hit shit.

Good thing we sat all the guys who drove in the runs!

11 of the runs scored last night were driven in by guys benched tonight. Lester drove in 2 of those so naturally he would sit, so call it 9.

Yea that kills me with baseball in general..
Team can look awesome one night and look like bad news bears the next..

Funny game baseball is...

Schwarber had right idea when he laid that bunt down but overall not happy with their hitting approach tonight with wind blowing in..

Yeah you think they would try a little more to play small ball they way the wind has been blowing in.

I don't want to be "that guy" after one game but I wasn't overly impressed by what I saw out of Wilson/Avila. Hopefully tonight was just first night jitters.

They had chances the first 3 innings. I really wish they would play baseball rather than trying to swing for the fences every once in a while.

I'm not picking on him
But
Schwarb you swing so hard at an outside pitch that you drop to your knee, then get pissed at a pitch that was closer to plate that was called a strike..

Come on

Avila first at bat as a Cub...well surely not a memorable start

Both him and Contreras looked pretty foolish tonight.

I don't think they know how or are built to play that way..

Most of these guys are dead pull long ball hitters..

Why I think it would of benefited to have Almora and Happ in lineup tonight, knowing wind was blowing in against a good Starter..

Expecting better from Wilson. Saw enough of Avila across town to know he wasn't worth whatever they gave up for him....kind of speaks volumes when your own father trades you.

Yeah, but that could have been:

Dad: I might need to trade you, would you be ok with that?
Son: Where to?
Dad: Cubs
Son: Hmm, well they won the WS last year and look to be in contention for a while. Plus that cool new clubhouse I've been hearing about.... Sure, ok.

How many of us thought to ourselves on Tuesday to save some of that?

Arrieta pitched a really strong game, Godley pitched a better one and his bullpen backed him up. I can't get worked up over a game like that. There's really nothing better than a good pitchers duel and we got one. On to the next one this afternoon.

Just read an article with Avila talking about catching Quintana last year..
Made me wonder why Maddon didn't match them up today over having Avila start last night with Arrieta.

Suppose to rain around game time but they should play today..

Wind will be blowing in again and they face a tough pitcher in Greinke..
Hope they have a better game plan today then they did last night..

Baez starting over Russell
Jay in CF
Schwarber in LF
Happ at 2B

Two really good pitchers, the wind blowing in, and the expectation of a low scoring affair. This has all the earmarks of the type of game where the baseball gods fuck with you. Watch it be 8-6.

Greinke been hot last couple games..
Just hope Quintana can match him and hitters can take advantage of any chance they get..

So yea.. 10-8 Cubs [emoji16]
