This dick behind the plate with his postage stamp strike zone is making this a high scoring game. Hendricks needs a bit of leeway with all the soft shit he throws. Hope the Cubs get the same strike zone when they're hitting.

Hendricks looks like a little league pitcher tonight. Talk about serving up grapefruits.

Telling stat ERA over 6 in the first inning.

You can't let him face another batter, Joe.

Unless you're already conceding that we can't win this.

Basically the rotation is Lester, a decent pitcher and a bunch of shit.

It kinda died off with the talent.

Might be a good idea to do week by week highlights. Cubs den does a nice day by day

But I believe most Cubs fans are trained by the old admins to ignore the farm because it sucked for so long. Theo came in and changed the tone where the fans started to understand that it is a important aspect of the game. And we see the results on the field.

But the gears have changed are I believe they are more so drafting support types vs core types right now. Yes a guy like Lange might replace Hendricks in the rotation in a few years. ‘Calling it here first. ‘

I could tell he had nothing in the first inning. And I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. It truly sucks when the manager throws in the towel in the 2nd inning.

Give the bullpen a rest tonight. Let Schwarber and Rizzo pitch tonight.

27-2 at least it would be entertaining.

Don't feel bad. Kyle is tossing soft toss over the plate.

I know that you want to point to other areas on the team but what I've seen with this team is they only go as far as the rotation.

Last year they stuttered until they traded for Q. Then Jake mastered his cross fire delivery. and the team got into that 2nd half roll. But it starts with the rotation.

This year should have been better in general. Even when Yu went down Montgomery performed better than he did in his starts. But Hendricks has been running like last summer pre-DL stint. Lost velocity and got wrecked. This year same issue. Q tosses a gem then falls off the rails. Chatwood is pushing a 2 WHIP.

This team is winning games in in spite of that. But at the current pace they will be a .500 team and it is not adding more runs that will solve the problem. It is sorting out the rotation.

Honestly, right now I just can't see dropping Montgomery in the 2nd half.

Last 30 games:

Lester: 6-0 1.89
Montgomery: 1-1 2.40 ERA
Q: 1-2 3.25 ERA
Chatwood: 0-1 3.60 ERA
Hendricks 1-4 6.52 ERA (not including this turd)

Honestly this is a huge issue going on right now. I wouldn't want him on a play off roister.

More I think about it renting Tyson Ross (worry about him out of Petco honestly but splits look good) or Hamels

I really think both would cost about the same in talent. Ross is far cheaper to take on. Rangers (if they wanted a strong return) would have to absorb.

More that I think about it the more it makes sense. I have always been leery about Hendricks. He comes in and just gets guys out with high 80's stuff and you wonder WTF is up with that? But you see how Joe tends to yank him before hitters get their timing down to his velocity. So it feels 'trick' vs 'fact'

In the past three years TWO pitchers have a better ERA. Kershaw and Scherzer.

Not a trick.
