Soler is not hitting yet, so I just guess Maddon uses the big guys to hit with a day or night off fielding. Bryant just got a day off, so probably see him playing the field to start. I would just really rather see Zobrist at first base instead of Javy.

It really sounds like he is just waiting for his pitch. Outside of that of his 37 PA 10 BB 10 SO 3 hits. 14 in play but outs. .45 GO/AO

I would expect a platoon of Sczcur and Coghlan in LF batting #9. Contreras as DH and Montero/Ross catching duty.

Edit: Oh ya Baez. Who knows. Contreras and Baez are playing every game. Montero and Ross will catch Arrieta and Lester's games. Expect Contreras back in for Hendrick's game. Hammel may get skipped due to bereavement leave. So Contreras DH on those 2 games and either Bryant or Zobrist in LF.

Hard to feel for a guy making that much money....but I do. Mostly because you can see that he's working to get better but has zero baseball luck.

I dont get this Montero just deserves it mentality. Contrares will shut down a running game. What has montero done, thrown out 3 out of 49 for a whopping 6%. He is just plain bad this year, both behind the plate and with the bat.

The running game is not nearly the factor on today's game as framing is. Pure and simple.

Contreras will improve, and Ross and Montero can help him do that. But he's not close to Montero right now.

Anyone know why Jorge Soler is out for 3-years with a hamstring injury? I mean, it's kind of crazy he's been out this long. What did he do -- tear it off the bone? If this goes on much longer, I wouldn't even call him back up. You know it'll take 4-6 weeks for him to get in to a groove, at least.

He's in AAA right now getting AB's. The eye is good. The hits haven't come yet. He was one of two players last year hitting in the playoffs. Not calling him back up when he starts raking at IA would be stoopit.

That's not exactly true. He was hitting very well when he went down slashing .308/.438/.590 in his last 15 games and a respectable .250/.345/.421 in his last 30. That said I don't think Soler is a fast starter and needs playing time to get going so it might be tough for him to make an impact this year.
