Back on the fourth of July, the Cubs led the Cards by 9 and the Bucs by 11. A lot happened in the last 30 days, most of it not so good. But at the moment nothing has changed in the standings except another month of he season is burned off.

No, we became the worst team in baseball. We have no shot at winning a playoff game and we needed to trade our whole minor league system for win now guys!

All about the rotation. They sucked and the team sucked. Not they are on track and the team is on track.

Contreras is perfect for the 2 hole

Move Bryant down to 5, give him more RBI chances

Zobrist should be the 2 hitter. OBA at .387. Leads the team with 61 BB.

Joe is in love with him in the 4 hole. Go figure.

I would run Fowler, Zobrist, Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Heyward, Contreras, Russell myself

I am not arguing the line-up in any way, shape, or form. Best record in baseball, and I like that Bryant and Rizzo, your two best RBI guys get up to the dish that much more.

As an opponent, I sure wouldn't like knowing that after the pitcher, Bryant and Rizzo are right around the corner.

That is one thing I hated when the Cardinals had their day with Pujols. It seemed like every other inning, he was lurking to get up to the plate followed by Rolen and Edmunds.

If the Cubs have one of the best power punches in baseball..........get'em up as much as you can. Next year may be a different story. Can you imagine sticking Schwarber in the middle somewhere? Wow!

Strop trying to be cute gets ball right back up his ass

Marlins done more off him on 18 pitches then they did off Hammel 80

You think Hammel was pissed getting taken out, wait til he loses the W

Strop got unlucky. A broken bat hit. MIF not communicating and a good throw turns into an error. Another DP ball hits off him and goes into RF. That isn't on Strop.

I kinda like what they did last year, with Bryant and rizzo batting third or fourth depending on starting pitcher matchup. Heyward just choked away the #2 spot, and even though he is still dangerous, provides no protection if you hit him fourth behind Bryzzo.. But you gotta understand Joes thinking that moving them both up one spot will get them more at bats.

Joe is in love with the R/L/R thing. Due to his splits Baez is hitting 4 vs L 8 vs R.

But in a play off series you most likely will see Fowler, Bryant, Rizzo, Zobrist followed by Heyward and Russell. The last 2 are interchangeable depending on who is catching. Add into it if Soler comes back on fire you have to play him.

Pretty much sums it up. That brings me to this though; with all the talk about what's going to happen when the Cubs go against good pitching in the playoffs I think another thing is the question as to who is going to want to go against our pitching in the playoffs?

Now that brings up an interesting study for our resident numbers savant to address...Beckdawg. Beckdawg, How has the Cubs faired against the top 20 WAR pitchers of playoff teams and how did those teams perform?
