Just wondering, had he finished the game, would he have got a win and a save? I assume just a win, but not sure of the rule there.

A pitcher cannot receive a save and a win in the same game. A relief pitcher recording a save must preserve his team's lead while doing one of the following: Enter the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitch at least one inning.

Brach is garbage. Why is he still on the roster?

Asking myself that a lot.

I see it as Wick is holding Kimbrel's jock strap right now. He hasn't pitched

Edwards has not pitched much also.

But for some reason Joe keeps going to this ass hat.

It is beyond me.

Anthony Rizzo makes more outs on the bases than any three players alive. Or dead.

He should have been able to make 3rd there easily with 2 outs you are going on contact and that ball was in the air awhile

Actually it was a tie. So Joe went with Brach. If they were preserving a lead it would have been Kintzler.

Seems

Save or hold Kintzler Cishek and Strop

None of the above-> not those 3.

Joe has gone to Ryan the most this year. I do believe that he is in the first 3 now.

You also never see the cubs get that lucky with bad base running from the opponent especially on the road

No idea what he is thinking on the bases. Either go, or don't go. He is a great player, but he runs bases like a 10 year old. Half effort, looking at the ball. Poor - or no - judgement.

With those four guys coming to the plate, if we don't get fly ball happy, we should be tough to hold scoreless. But we get two hits, and go down after 4 guys.

It's baseball, and anybody can beat anybody some days, bah, blah, blah. I get all that. But sometimes it just looks like we play as though we are already beaten. And down one run while sending those 4 guys to the plate, the other team should feel beat, not us.

It was nice to see the runs last night without relying on a HR. Unfortunately, that often means needing alot of hits. And with Rizzo on second, we still would have needed two more.

I certainly don't want to make too much of it, and I absolutely think Rizzo is a great player. But he just seems so damned nonchalant so often. Somebody needs to get on him about his mental mistakes, but no chance anyone will.

We talked in spring training of the focus that was missing last year, and how they would be focused this year. During that 22-7 stretch, it all seemed to ring true.

But this past month looks just like 2018 - playing below their capabilities and letting too many games slip away. This team has the talent to be kicking serious butt, and all year last year I defended them knowing they'd be there at the end. But they weren't. And I don't want to see a repeat.

I would like to see some guys get fired up when they lose games they should win.

This is a year of great opportunity. Grab it!

Way too many swing and miss guys on this team. Diaz was throwing nothing but fastballs yet they couldn’t put it in play... other than Bote and when he flew out I knew the game was over with caritini and heyward coming up, those 2 whiff a lot and it’s not like you had to worry about 3 pitches from Diaz, he was coming with the fastball and he knew they couldn’t hit it

Cubs scored 4 runs before the first out in the 5th, but it was not enough for Yu yet again.

I believe Edwards is on the 10-day and won't be back till later this month. That's probably the only reason Brach is still around.....he does appear to be on a short leash though which is a good thing.
