What the Cubs gave up for that guy.....just a damn shame. The White Sox dumping their trash on the northside. You can throw all the metrics around that you want but when I watched the Sox, Quintana never impressed. I'll go with the eye test every time. TOR guy, my ass.

There are guys who seem to do just enough to lose. Lose on a bad team? Blame the offense. Get runs? Still lose.
Steve Traechsel-like.

I certainly have more faith in Quintana than I ever had in Traechsel (who may be my least favorite Cub for this very reason), but damn he needs to step up.

Don't worry, after struggling with this bad Mets team, we have a rookie making his first start, Yu and Chatwood, with a short bullpen, facing the first place Braves. :)

You still cant do math.

Also, there lucky they have the third best record in NL. They could easily have no wins.

You don't see the difference between saying the players need to meet and "Holy shot! We won't win 75 games!!!!" ????

That's kind of everyone's point.

Don't waste your time....there's a reason why he's on a lot of "ignore" lists. It's also probably why he only shows up sporadically....all anyone does is either argue with or make fun of him.

So much so that maybe he would change his screen name.....hmmm, I wonder.

Well from what I saw over the last 2 games all I want to see is Alzolay in the rotation ASAP.

Hamels:
Apr 3.19 ERA May: 5.19 June: 0.31
Lester
Apr 2.37 ERA May: 4.28 June: 5.32
Darvish
Apr 5.02 ERA May: 5.01 June: 4.07
Quintana
Apr 3.48 ERA May: 4.03 June: 4.29

That didn't include Q's last game. Which just pushed His June up to 6.33 ERA.

All I can say is he better have a injury because looking over all of the starters they are pretty much keeping at or under a 5.00. There have been a few rough patches Hamels's May and Lester's June but in general they have have had other months to offset it.

But the starters now:

Hamels: 2.85
Chatwood 3.69
Lester: 4.13
Quintana: 4.50 (jumped up from a 3.87)
Darvish 4.75

IDK. I would run out 6 next time around and cut the weakest link from it. Seeing that game...

Shoot after watching that play by Caritini maybe he should learn 2B. That was a pretty amazing throw.

Nope Choyne is not another poster, I’m a new poster who is just calling it like he sees it and that’s that this team is struggling bad and I’m not the only one who has been negative of this team lately. Look at today’s in game thread and you will see several who were dissing Q and the trade to get him and I have seen so many negative responses to Brach, Heyward and anyone else who hasn’t been good. This team currently isn’t going to beat degrom tomorrow and I doubt they will even split with the Braves and then 3 at Cincinnati will probably result in another series loss

Hamels has been their ace. I would call this game even. deGromm is not pitching like he did last year

Wheeler is plain good and was on his game.

From what Joe said Q normally has late movement and it was not there. So he was just pitching batting practice.

That said I'm still in favor of a 6 man and loser to the pen after a round.

Over all I think Chatwood draws the short stick. He has a knack of getting a double play to get out of his mess but that continuous pattern pushes up his pitch count fast.

Alzolay had clean innings. He is only become more dominate on the mound with exposure.

Darvish and Q are the same animal right now. Darvish is more talented.

Lester and Hamels are the gold standard.

I wouldn't be shocked if they end up trading Q and resigning Cole to be honest. Alozay makes a cheap SP.

I know degrom’s ERA is higher this year but he did just take a shutout into the 9th last start at Atlanta when the Braves had been red hot and especially with their hitting so against a
Cubs team that has been struggling to score except for a couple games this week I see this being a low scoring loss

Hamels has a .31 ERA in June. Leads the majors.
Ryu .45
Buehler: .87
Scherzer .93
Berrios 1.63

and so on until
deGromm 2.25

He has been good. But we are talking about the hottest pitcher in baseball going up against him.
