So IOW he got calls off the plate that today's pitchers don't.

Glavine also got luv on the edges. If I recall right there was a crack down on the strike zone. Umps back then did not call above the belt strikes but widened the zone to compensate.

Now strikes are at the letters and the width is narrower.

Just guys pitching to the ump's zone. No one talks about how no one called high strike back then that pitchers can go up in the zone now and get a called.

fuck lastella with a rusty old beam from the old bleachers. They just had to cater to this whiner to bring him up before September 1.

No reason to put Javy and Zobrist on the bench for this douche.

Ive been trying to stay out of this. But if he hits. Vs Cog hitting under .200 and taking his spot.

Who fucking cares.

If he hits and it makes the line up more productive.

Who fucking cares what happened.

The person that he replaced was Patton. Who was a filler who sucked and didn't deserve to sniff a MLB paycheck.

Again as long as he produces.

Who fucking cares.

If he lays a turd and get punted then fine. Bad attude bad performance. F-him.

But if he keeps up the same performance and peeps want to whine while saying nothing about likeable bad performers?

Nice guys finish last. And go wipe the snot off your kids nose. No need for a mother hen stalking the boards

The crackdown on the K zone is due to the data available and now Pitch/FX. The reason the K zone was lowered was to get the PU to call the strike zone. Now that data is readily available and PU can be graded, the K's being called are too low. They will likely be moving back up to above knees.

Should be the letters to the top of the knee. Over the plate. Including the black.

Guys with good sweeping sliders excell if they can cut the front corner of the plate in this zone.

Over is over the plate.

Instead of using this tech for a bunch of stats....put it to good use and get those half blind old men out from behind home plate. I always believed that the human element was important to the game. Not anymore. The last three years have been the worst I've ever seen on ball and strike calls. These guys are frankly, embarrassing the game of baseball.

It would be good if they did that. Pitchers who can locate their stuff on the edges would excell. The high fastball would gain value. Guys that can start fastballs up and in with a late break towards the plate could get borderline strikes.

The whole framing would end and catchers could go back to being game callers and athletes vs strike cheaters.

I don't think they'll ever take the umpire out from behind the plate calling balls n strikes..

What I think they should do is three things..

One. I believe they have some kind of umpire academy , they need to program in the future ump generation mind, the strike zone the way it should be called.
No IF AND or BUT.. They don't get called up, until it perfected.

Two.. They need to start bringing up the new generation of umpires, once their ready and start retiring the older ones..

Three... I think instead of rotating the 4 umpires around the bases during a series, have 2 umps in each set that grade high behind the plate and just let them alternate each game..

Maybe it's just me but I sort of like various umps having various zones so long as those umps are consistent calling it. I don't think i'd like a robo ump for instance.

I have noticed that the strike zone has gotten wider and shorter over the last 50 years. Cant believe how many balls off the plate are called strikes. At the same time, the strike zone used to be at the letters in the majors and almost to the shoulders in the youth leagues. Batting with 2 strikes was a defensive exercise. I'm amazed that pitches just above the waist are now called balls

Wind howling in from left...going to have to really drive one to get it out in left field. Good day for fly ball pitchers.
