Soler plays like shit all year and finally comes through and you get wood? I look at it more like a trade audition

He hasn't played like shit since the beginning of the season. Lol also, the Cubs can never come back remember

I'll bet Madden is kicking himself for pulling Soler. He's been a big part of this game.

He was safe. If the ump called him safe, this game is over. This ump has cost us the game a thousand different ways today.

Can't believe Rizzo didn't get a hit there. The Pirates are above .500.

Soler since he came back from the DL

17 for 57 (.298)
5 HR
14 RBI
3 2B
.349 OBP
.614 slugging

I'm sorry, you don't just dump 24 year old guys with that little time at the plate. If you get value (which you possibly can't get due to his injury history + numbers) then move him but he's obviously worth hanging on to.

Soler is consistently one of the few Cubs who makes few soft outs (only 19.9 of his outs are soft) and he raised his walk rate to above 10% and his K rate is down to 23%. If he makes one small adjustment to continue go the other way with outer half velocity (he's one of the few Cubs who has as much power to opposite field/center), he'd be an insanely dangerous hitter.

And the Cubs will continue to furiously try to dump Soler in the offseason

Dump him? Do you think they couldnt "dump" him already?

Could you just Hawk him from this forum? Please? How much do I have to donate to the forum for that to happen?

Maddon screwed the pooch not keeping Soler in the game. He also should be letting Cahill stay in the game.

What about Heyward doing something crazy like ending the game with a HR. That seems appropriate.

The Cubs aren't stupid, they know Soler will continue to get better as he continues to see high level pitching. Obviously he's a guy who you can't count on to play 150+ games a year but he makes perfect sense to platoon next year with Heyward/Almora/Schwarber/Bryant/Zobrist in the OF.
